Default BT800 and the BB 7520

Please Login to Remove!

I hope I have a bad unit! I preordered the BT 800 2 months ago. Waited and waited. Just recieved it last week and what a disappointment!

Perhaps it's just me, and I can find no other posts for this issue (yes NJBlackBerry I used the search engine first!).

I cannot answer a call by pushing the answer button on the 800. I need to answer it on my phone first! Real pain.

But worse is the echo I get from the unit. It is terrible! Also, the people at the other end of my conversations complain of static. Anyone else have these issues?

Not on the 7290 works fine.
the not being able to answer a call suggests to me you have a defective unit.

After we spoke today I had one of my users retest the BT800 and confirmed that the answer function is NOT working on the 7100. So it likely not working on the 7520 as you stated.

Schmutzberry which handheld OS are you running on your 7290?

He retested the Moto HS820 and M3500 which answer the device just fine.

I experienced the same problem with my 7520 and BT800 so I contacted Jabra. The response I got was that it is not fully compatible with that phone at this time. We are working on the problem but currently dont have a solution or a time frame. Information will be posted on our website when it becomes available.

Oh man... sounds like the BB is needing another Bluetooth update.

DCS are you getting echo on your BT800?

I am running a 7290 nwith the latest v 4.0.0.219 from Rogers.
It seems to be working fine for me answering, call display, vibration, and all.
Not echoey either - less so thant than moto HS820 and the 3500, although overall, I find the sound quality to be inferior to that on the M3500 and equal but different to that of the Moto. The BT800 has a synthesized quality to it and limited range. Less static than the Moto and the M3500. I've also tested it in noisy environments and it's fine. Very poor wind performance though.
I know this runs counter to some other people's experience, so go figure.
I know that Jabra can have ROM updates, so hopefully experience will improve, but not being able to answer is a major problem.

I have the same exact problem with my BT800 and my 7520. I ended up getting an HS810 and love it. No caller ID, but it does work very well. I am holding on to my BT800 for now. I picked up my BT800 off of eBay for $90 and the HS810 on eBay for $35.

Hope they fix this soon.

John

same problem here with the bt800 and 7520. Returned it, I now have an hs850.

Was version 0021 as well. I figured either an update on the BB7520 itself or on the BT800 would fix the above problems, but wasnt willing to wait since no one was sure of release date. Specially since the 7520's OS is still 4.0.0.160. I read another thread that said the latest OS update from Rogers (.219) is approved by bluetooth or something like that. Those Rogers units, and the Verizon 7250 units don't seem to have any compatibilty problems.

new 7520 software due within 2-3 weeks or sooner. Going to fix a lot of the BT issues and echo. It will not be 100%, but much much imnproved.

Echo is actualy to do with iDEN. RIM is working with MOTO and NXTL on a solution. Should be out by late spring.

Why would the echo be due to iDEN when no echo is present in a call where the headset is out of the loop?

Why would some headsets echo with the 7520 but others don't?

remember, 1st BT phone with NXTL or iDEN in general. It has to do with the SW and how it interacts with the iDEN network. It is NOT a iDEN hardware issue. It needs to be correctable on the SW side.

So what your saying is we are back to talking about the BT bridge and stack not interacting with the handset... sorry I thought you meant that iDEN itself was an issue.

there will be a 7520 update release within the next 2-3 weeks to address a lot of this issue (echo). Major update late spring.

The BT stack is interacting with the headset. It is how it interacts that causes the echo on the iDEN side of things.
