Default Latest OS: 9930 7.0.0.1739/7.0.0.374 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.0.0.1739 (Multilanguage)
Will install to any carrier's 9930 by following these instructions.

File Name: 9930cmpttAMEA_PBr7.0.0_rel1739_PL5.0.0.552_A7.0.0. 374.exe
Download Size: 189 MB
Language: Multilanguage

Download the OS file here: http://pcdn1-download.vzw.com/win/A7...A7.0.0.374.exe

Instructions for installing on the 9930:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Are there actual RIM Release Notes indicating what specific bug fixes and/or enhancements were made?

I guess you haven't spotted the 100 posts that says that RIM never publishes the release notes. The carriers have them but choose not to publish them.

I guess I didn't. Seems pretty stupid don't ya think? Why would someone install something without knowing some details first?

Well upgrade went fine and nothing to note as of yet as far as improvements or problems with the OS.

So when Verizon releases the next version without publishing notes, you won't ne using it. Good plan.

Only strange thing I have seen is I opened my messages and there was a text message I new was in there. Opened an email and went back to the message list and it was there again. Not sure if that was a fluke occurrence or had something to do with the OS, has not happened again.

I think I found an issue where my BB has to be rebooted to get charged.

At the end of the day I plug it into the charger and it says it does not recognize it. I have to reboot the device and it then begins to charge. This only happened after the first week of the update. Odd.

9930 firmwares are very raw yet. Device behaves really strange sometimes. Touchscreen turns off, screen turns off, all really unexpectedly and unconditionally. Expecting somewhat stable experience after .800

Odd, because I have experienced none of that.

I just got a 529 error followed by a 102 and had to reinstall the OS.

My phone froze up after ending a bluetooth DUN session from my laptop (Apple macbook pro). I tried a soft reset on the phone and after the reset the phone displayed a 524 error, reset again and got the 102.

All Right -- Now I am really angry! That 7.0.1739 UPGRADE just deleted all of my word substitutes -- 10 years worth of shortcuts gone in an instant -- well no -- two hours worth of time that this STUPID upgrade took me. I tried to restore twice with no luck.

ANYONE have any suggestions -- please -- I am in serious pain here.

Did you upgrade with the correct OS for your device? Your profile shows 8700g. Please update your profile if needed. This thread is about 7.0.0.374 for the 9930, but you put a different number in your post.

Do you have a recent backup of your device? When I upgraded I did not lose my word substitutes.

Having done major upgrades for my iphone and now the 9930, it's easy to see why the iphone is a friendlier device. After asking for the upgrade you get a warning that the phone will be useless for 2 hrs. Then after the upgrade the application permissions need to be reset on each app. Some apps, like SplashID lost their data entirely.

BB software may/may not be better, but they certainly don't spend enough time on the user experience

I have never used an Iphone nor will I, but if Itunes is any reflection on how Apple software works then I don't see how it could be better than BB. Updating the Blackberry is a simple process that takes about 10 minutes, and I can download OS's from different carriers. Now granted a pop up for Poynt did come up asking if I wanted to grant permission again, but that is just one button press not anything to complain about.
