Default 8703e (Verizon) 4.5 ? Hybrid ? Project challenge !

Please Login to Remove!

Sick of Verizon ignoring the 8703e. Has any one found a way to get 4.5 on these ? The have to be the worst carrier at staying current ! All GSM 8700's can run 4.5- could a hybrid OS be assembled ? I am hoping that one of our BB Genius can figure out a way to modify, merge, hack, reverse engineer a way to make this work !
It seems like taking the 4.5 for GSM and transplanting the CDMA & Java files might be possible or using the CDMA 8830 as a base for mods ???
Any one up to the challenge ?

You might as well work for RIM if you could create that kind of hybrid/modified firmware.

No, there are some things that are not possible, and loading the OS files from a device of one technology to a device of a different technology is one of those things.

You just don't want to try
Who knows, maybe you can hack around and come up with 4.5.0.131 for the 8703e.

Hey guys, sorry for my delayed reply! I was really just kidding when I said "anyone want to buy It? " (note to mods I would have properly listed it in the sales forum) . I am a bit of a collector, if I decided to sell a piece a watch, baseball card, comic book, etc, it has to be up to my standards- I have made some bad buying decisions ie the Renault- but I would not pass on my mistake without fullest disclosure.
Since there was some interest, I checked out the phone carefully and it failed. It has the voice quality issue that has been documented on this forum. So its back to Verizon, hopefully exchanged for something different. I am certain that you would not have been happy with this unit.
If I do have an item for sale and I say its really nice,it maybe pristine. If I say its a wreck, its a wreck !
Again, sorry for the delay !

Hi folks! Long time lurker, first time poster.

Such a thing DOES in fact exist; running it now on one of our test devices. I doubt it will ever be released though. It's stable, but pretty slow. 4.2.1 runs a lot faster. :(

Post count is too low for an in-post image, but I have a screenshot on my Flickr account: farm4.static.flickr.com/3597/3513967362_a04f3fc44b_o.png

We will know soon enough I asked him to send me the files ! ! On background, I had heard that it was developed sometime ago but, never seen in the wild. It may be an urban legend, just like the new Verizon Storm OS thats coming out (tomorrow).

I'll believe it when I see it.

Until then, I've still got the BS flag up.
