Default Blackberry Connect on Nokia e70 w/ Cingular?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I would like to read my company's blackberry email in the USA using a Nokia phone and Cingular phone service. I've searched this board and around the internet and have heard contractory things about whether this will work.

At first it seemed like it might work, because e70 has Blackberry Connect, and an e70 will work with Cingular. However, Cingular doesn't sell the e70 (only the e62) and the blackberry connect software seems particular to the combination of phone and provider. Also, there are some older posts on this forum from people who couldn't get this combination to work.

So, has anyone had any success with this? Or will only an e62 work in the US? Thanks very much for any replies or pointers.

This might be of some help- perhaps only a little bit:
Nokia's Business Software website:
Click Here-> Nokia Business Software Downloads

BB Connect Downloads are mentioned -if available-
for each supporting Phone Model and Service Provider.

No Cingular BB Connect I'm afraid for the E70.
Even though BB Connect Desktop does show available.
But Opting for Americas; Vodafone -or Other- does show E70 BB Connect.
Both show same Versions available- details below:
S60 (Nokia E70)
Nokia S60PR2 BlackBerry Connect 6.40.0_10(.SISX, 1,7 MB)
NOTE: You need software version 2.618.07.10 on your device.

Nokia S60PR1 BlackBerry Connect 6.40.0_9(.SISX, 1,7 MB)
NOTE: You need software version 1.610.05.07 on your device.

Only thing- at your own risk- is to try that software and see if it works.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, assuming my company lets me read my email on it, maybe I'll get an E70 and just return it if the BB Connect doesn't work. I'll post here either way if I end up testing it.

I have an E61 working on Blackberry. Install the generic software, download Blackberry Connect for Nokia (not Cingular Optimized), call Cingular and tell them that you have a E62 and have them set your account for it. By the way, you can also tell them that you have a real Blackberry. It doesn't matter.

Thumbs up E70 with BlackBerry Connect on Cingular - Works

I've an unlocked E70 and am using BlackBerry Connect with Cingular as my service provider.

It works great and I have been using it without any issues since around December 2006 (if I recall correctly).

To get it to work, ensure your E70 is running firmware version 2.618.07.10 and you install Nokia S60PR2 BlackBerry Connect 6.40.0_10.

You can find it at http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.co..._downloads.php. Region: Americas
Operator: *Other

Note: It didn't work with old firmware and corresponding BBConnect client -- and I worked with senior techs at BlackBerry and Cingular for days...

Enjoy the E70 -- great device, other than the lack of a readily configurable VPN client!
