Default Bold 9000 or 9700?

Please Login to Remove!

Before everyone tells me to use the search function, I DID use the search function and I did find some old posts that were along what I had in mind, but didn't quite solve. My details are as follows:

I'm living in Korea right now, and the Bold 9000 has been available for about half a year or so now. The 9700 is going to be available next month, and I'm itching for a new phone because my Xperia X1 and Windows Mobile is driving me up the wall.

I'm not a frequent caller, but on the other hand, I spend a fair amount of time texting people and talking to people on Messenger on my X1 right now -- the QWERTY keyboard was what attracted me to the Blackberry. I do not use too many applications -- I can count at most 10 apps I use on a regular or semi-regular basis, such as MSN Messenger or a PDF viewer, among others. I occasionally watch a video but I regularly listen to music.

Having made my phone habits clear, would I be better off picking up a 9000 this week, or wait it out until the 9700 becomes available in two weeks or so?

It's a preference. Take a look at http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...th-9000-a.html

I'd wait the 2 weeks and try both phones. I had my heart set on the 9000 but when I tried both at the store the 9700 (with all the new feaures and memory) won out.

I have both 9000 and 9700. Although I like my 9700 more, but if for a person who do more texting, listen to music and watch video, the bigger screen and keyboard might be a better choice for you.

Speaking for myself, I prefer the speakerphone on my 9000 than my 9700. It sounded clearer and no echo on the 9000. I dont like the speakerphone on my 9700. However, the 9700 has a better and more solid feel.

Like kastefam said, wait 2 weeks and try both phone for yourself.

hope it helps.

How does battery life add up? According to some posts here, both use the same battery, but the 9700 seems to have insane efficiency compared to the 9000.

9000 has the track ball - 9700 has a track pad. My exp. is that the track ball is trouble prone. The 9700 may have a faster processor depending on the model. Check to be sure the 9000 you are looking at has 3G capability, 9700 is 3G, makes a big difference on streaming and tethering. I would get he 9700, unless you need a big screen.
