I just had my first crash this morning.
Every night I put my Storm on my desktop cradle/charger enter the clock mode with bedside mode on. This morning I woke up to "JVM error" 526 cant remember the exact number. However I pulled the battery and got another error on reboot,, "JVM error" at this point I could highlight "continue" under the error. But nothing happend after I clicked it. So another battery pull. After reboot the same error appeared this time I was able to continue to boot. After fully booting up my wall papaer changed to the default Verizon swoosh. So I reboot again. No errors then my Storm came up with the correct wall papaer. All is good for now. This is the first crash I have ever had with the device.

Just upgraded to .83 and I love it. A little flaky with closing some pictures but the camera is a bit faster, the rotating is faster and pulling up txting menus is faster. Suretype isn't nearly as laggy when you type fast even with keyrate on fast. Overall it's worth it.

I did notice if you don't have a lot of icons on the normal menu and it's just full of icons, you cannot slide your finger around icons and have it follow like .75. Not a big deal but just noticed you cannot do it anymore.

.85 is out now, btw... i would hold off on upgrading to .83 if you are just now thinking of doing so.

Has there been any info on when the latest update will be officially released? I keep seeing a date of mid-January.

I was on the phone with Tech spport yesterday requesting a replacement Storm (which arrived today!) and I asked if he had any clue when the next release might be coming.

He said as we were speaking the guys from RIM were in the office meeting with Engineers going over the details of the release candidate, making sure they had everything in there. He hadn't heard anything specific, but he said last time those guys were in on a Tuesday, the release came out Friday, so he was hoping for next week at the latest.

Just a rumor
