How much will this cost me???
Please Login to Remove!
I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 Red for US Cellular. I recently got a crack in the screen by leaning against something while it was in my pocket. Here is a picture of the crack: http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6233/87295174.jpg
My question is any idea how much it would cost me to get this fixed? What is the cheapest route I can go? The phone still works perfectly I just gotta get rid of this crack. Thanks!

Check out Horizon wireless they sell part, but I don't know about the screen.
I assume you don't have any insurance or on the phone?

Most likely you just cracked the cover, get a new cover for around 20-30 dollars.

Okay where would I do that? Also if I got a new cover would I have to get someone to put the new one on or is it something I could do myself. The more information you guys can give me the better! Thanks!

Check out CNN.cn for BlackBerry parts. I've bought from them in the past. Their shipping takes forever but they're reputable. I didn't see a plastic cover for the screen, just the replacement screen itself. $35 plus shipping.

I am wondering if Ebay may be the best option? Any thoughts?

Well, you've already been given two recommendations from some forum veterans and neither one was eBay.

Yes I realize that. I am just looking to see how many options I have as far as buying a new cover.

eBay is always "iffy". I'd go with a reputable parts supplier so you know what you're getting and can be assured of even getting anything, let alone the correct part.

Say I did buy from them. Would they just supply me the parts and I would have to take the old screen off myself and replace it with the new one? Does anyone know if this is a hard thing to do?

You can pay someone local to do it for you, for between $50 and $100 on top of the parts you bought. Or you can do it yourself: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...rry+8330&uni=1

Okay so my LAST question would be does anyone have much experience selling these phones? Anyone know an estimate on what I could get on this phone even with a small crack in it. I have the box and everything it came with and otherwise it is in great condition.

cnn.cn
The web address is ghetto and it comes from hong kong (like pretty much every face panel out there) but everything is good OEM quality.
perfect place to get a new face panel. Install takes about 5 minutes, you just unscrew 4 screws...any dummy could do it. I have white, black and my original silver casing, I switch em up all the time.
Don't sell it with the screen like that b/c most people are not savvy enough to find a replacement screen off the internet.

You will need a T6 Torx screwdriver and something to pry the case apart. A plastic pry-bar is handy. It looks like a guitar pick but is more sturdy. Plastic prevents marring the case.
An unrepared damaged screen will shoot your resale value down to $100 or less, depending on how pristine the rest of the BB is.

Yeah I thought I may need some tools. Thats why I was hoping someone could lead me to a nice little set maybe that has the new screen I will need, the screwdriver, and any other tools I would need to do it myself. I feel like there has to be something like that out there for a reasonable price.

So basically I need the screen cover itself, the T6 screwdriver, and a plastic pry bar. That sounds like its gonna cost me a lot!

Yes, I'm recommending buying from cnn.cn. I'm always skeptical of sites like this but I did it and I've had luck with them three different times as well as my friends have bought from them multiple times.
BlackBerry Curve 8330 OEM Red full housing - US Cellular- Mobiado, 3G, Alcatel, BenQ-Siemens, Motorola, Nokia, Microsoft, Apple, Acer, Son
You'll need that casing.
For the Curve I've noticed you don't really need the prying tool but my past blackberry's it was very helpful.
You also need T5 and T6 screw drivers (the screws on the back of the phone are bigger than the ones that are on the front of the phone), if you get the mini's (that's all you'll need) are $1.50 each. + shipping.
If your only other option is selling the phone, you'll be losing money, guaranteed.
