same issue here, It sometimes just stops.

I will keep using BBmaps as it works best for me.

Can Google Maps be used with a "track up" view? Also, is there anyway to increase the font size. I like BBmap's view better. However, Google tracks better in my area and has POI which is helpful.

Not that I am aware of for either. You can try changing the system font but I don't recall that having an impact.
