(you would have think rogers could have just told me this.)
it's still cheaper i think to buy it from rogers directly than from telenav - our dollar is still a little weaker.
I tried this method, but I have not received an SMS yet from them with my PIN....???? Is that how you were able to get your?
Thanks

All right. Not so good.

I just installed the TM version on my Rogers phone. Got my Rogers phone. Got the PIN, everything good, right? WRONG.

First map display is a lot slower than 4.7, address book access is a lot slower, and it won't recognize the country field from the address book. If you try an address in Canada from the address book inside Telenav, it won't find it. If you go to the BB address book, and use the 'Drive it' menu option, it will display the address in Telenav with US in the country. I'm going to try the AT&T because even though it did download the 8800 version, they only suport the 8100 for TM.

The AT&T version is no better. I'll have to go back to 4.7.

Frankly, I'm starting to re-think the use of TELENAV. Their CS is non-existant, and I can't stand 3rd parties that have to customize their software for different carriers.

Reply from Telenav when I inquired about getting a PIN last week:

Hello,

TeleNav 5.1 is not currently available for Rogers customers. The current version for your device is TeleNav 4.7. Any time that you download a version of TeleNav that asks you for a PIN that is an indication that it is an incorrect version for your phone as Rogers customers do not manually add their PIN.

Please deinstall TeleNav 5.1 and reinstall TeleNav 4.7 by going to the following link from your Internet Browser on your Blackberry:

TeleNav

If you require assistance with TeleNav or your wireless account please contact Rogers support directly at 1.866.931.3282.

Have a Great Day!

I got the PIN. It's just that the versions we can download don't recognize Canadian addresses from the address book.
