I have found Stinsonddog's Blackberry GPS review to be the most comprehensive on the net and relavent to what I am looking for. But like he said I will not give up my GM's.
I thought the review was really great. Very helpful....many thanks.
Just one thing to add and thats that BBmaps only "knows" about the USA and Canada...everywhere else you are lucky to just get the country pasted. Its a great application however and runs fairly fast, but its map coverage is very limited indeed.
I'm in New Zealand and Gmaps gives everything down to the street level, but no gps. I guess none of the other vendors are rushing to make changes until they see just what Google have in mind.
tryied google maps found it very slow on the 7100i I have used telenav only bad thing about it is the price. bb maps is super fast on the 7100i with the internal gps. I dont use it very often because i usually know where i am headed before I leave but I turn on bb maps just to check out the surrounding area. And Free is real hard to beat
ok.. im new to all this.. and i been reading SO FAR! Above the dude wrote the moST easy to understand for a NOOBIe like me to knoe. but i still have a question. I have a Single plan. No data plan Just voice =] the 40 dollar one. no msg either.. and i was wondering if i just buy the gps holox 240.. does it just work wid the gps program on my phone? without me havign to pay extra for anything?
it should do, as far as i know (im sure someone will say otherwise) that you dont need a data plan to use gps, as its just a bluetooth connection between your bb and gpsreceiver.

No data plan, no maps. Yes you can use Spot in a very limited way to find geocaches but that's about it.
