Wow, they actually did release it today and the upgrade is pretty easy! Let's see if it works

Anyhow, it works except TETHERING broke and there is no DIAL BY NAME functionality. Deal killer for me. I'm going back to 4.0.2...

No tethering is bad news for me, too. Can anyone confirm before I upgrade? I left my winders laptop at home, so if I don't hear back I'll try it tonight and report back.

Tethering now requires the additional $15/month charge to work. If you don't have that, you can't tether with 4.1. The old "pay-as-you-go-but-they-never-billed-it" loophole was closed for this release.

I never see my bill, so I have no idea if it was billed or not back when I was 4.0 on my 7250...
I can confirm the message that the user/password is not valid on the domain now that I am on 4.1.
I might go back to 4.0 unless I can convice the IT dept. to add tethering to my account...

What I would like to hear is from people that are still currently on 4.02 OS and are still tethering without the $15 charge, whether on per kilobyte or free, because then the question is what would happen if one downgrades to 4.02, will you still get the option then.

downgraded back to 4.02, tethering again for free just like before. i can live with the occasional DCR. no great improvements in 4.1 anyways, lost ability to type phone book names while in the phone app, which is very annoying.
4.1 is useless upgrade, i wouldnt be surprised if they take 4.02 down soon. you guys better save a copy of it on your hard drive!

So, what are the advantages to upgrading to 4.1?

The only download available for the 7250 is 4.1. Is the 4.0 that's available for the 7750 4.02?

You cannot use a different OS intended for a different device, so unless you can find the old version elsewhere you will be out of luck.

Why can't they EVER get an upgrade right?
So far, my users have said the DCR's have not shown up... yet... but I'll wait until they travel to be the judge of whether or not it's gone for good.
#1 Complaint, as was mentioned, is the inability to type names in while under the phone program. Do call people they either have to hope that they had a recent conversation with them, otherwise, they're hunting through the rolodex to find their names. Nice bug there.
#2 Complaint - Viewing images seems to be partly broken. Example, went to the weather underground mobile site, typed in a zip code, saw a map. Clicked on the map, click in, choose "View Full" nothing but a blank screen. That used to work.
Still waiting for #3-10...

Risk of redundant posting... but this is really bugging me... Has anyone found a workaround for #2?

Nope, still broken. But I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem, when I've posted about it before everyone said that it worked for them. Apparently this is only occuring on some 7250s, not sure why. A possible fix is a device wipe/re-install, but I'm not really looking to do that.

Two things:
I tried Opera Mini, and it seems to work somewhat in terms of making the radar images more useable...
Also, if I configure the Blackberry browser to be a Blackberry browser rather than MS IE, Weather Underground generally works....

^OK good to know, thanks - I'll pass that on to the user to try and see if he can live with it, but still a problem, I feel, that needs to be fixed as it USED to work.

Agreed...
I actually favored the Blackberry over my Palm in terms of online images until this update. I really miss radar images at full resolution, particularly (especially during t-storm season). I hope they restore this in a future update.

I have a 7250 and do not have that problem with the maps at all, I view them fully, I use Blackberry browser rather than IE.

That's odd...
KonTiki, do you have both the Internet Browser and Blackberry Browser? Or is your Internet Browser configured to Blackberry emulation?
When I select "Full Image" in the Internet Browser (w/Blackberry emulation), I get a blank white page...
Maybe I have some other configuration screwed up somewhere...
Thanks!
