Default Media sync issues

Please Login to Remove!

I've recently sold my iPod and started using Media Sync with iTunes. I have one playlist that I sync. It has, according to iTunes, 1549 songs. When I sync, the Media Sync program says the sync was completed successfully (no errors). But in Media Player on the Blackberry, it gives a total number of songs that is usually far less than 1549. Sometimes it'll say 700ish, sometimes 1200ish. Now it says 1384. It changes if I force the Blackberry to rescan, but when it rescans it never seems to find all the songs.

If I plug the Blackberry in to my laptop and use Windows to search for all *.mp3 and *.m4a files in the \music\Media Sync folder, it finds exactly 1549 files.

I've got an 8900 running 4.6.1.250 (378).

Any ideas of what's going on? I have no idea which songs are "missing"

I'm guessing you are hitting some type of limit in the Media Sync..

I would Just copy all the music into your "Music" folder and when you open the Media Application go into Music and choose "All Songs".. it's essentially doing the same thing since you only have 1 play list.

Thanks for the idea...I tried this and it still does the same thing. I've backed up the media card to my computer, deleted all the *.dat files, formatted the media card, and copied music manually back to the BB in small batches. Everything works well until I get about 1430 songs on there, and then the Berry starts reporting less than 1430 songs. Sometimes 1430, 1411, 800,etc.

I've also noticed that some songs seem to "disappear". I mentioned this in the Media Center sync sticky thread, but I'll repeat myself here. For example, I know I have "Rebellion" by The Arcade Fire. The other day when I went to All Songs and typed in "Arc" it didn't find it. Same for "Reb" or "fire". But when i went in to the media player and Explored my media card, I found the song file. I clicked on it and it played just fine.

Any ideas?

I remember the media App had a limit on the amount different artist/songs it would read.. I wonder if you hit it.

You are running the latest on your phone.

Have you tried a third party music player like xPlayer or Flipside?

xPlayer has a free version I think, you can get it from Shape services (the same company from IM+)

The Bay Harbor Butcher strikes again! xPlayer took an inordinate amount of time scanning my SD card (and made it seem as if the BB had frozen up) but then it did in fact find all 1570 songs.

^ to xPlayer.
:td: to the built in BB media player

edit: sad my little emoticons don't work.

Cool, glad you got it working. Hopefully OS enchancements will improve the media player.
