Default Verizon Tour - Visual Voice Mail

Please Login to Remove!

I have had Verizon's visual voice mail lockup my Tour twice now. It seems you have to treat it with kid gloves. Don't stop listening to one message and quickly begin another, or you could lock up the tour.

Has anyone else had this same experience?

Does Verizon update the software on their blackberries from time to time? I'm hoping the Visual Voice Mail gets a lot more robust. Right now, I'm seriously considering going back to regular voice mail as I don't want to have to pull the battery again.

I haven't had any problems with it.

Reportedly there is an OS update in the works for the Tour, but nothing definite yet.

I am on vvmail_9630 v1.0.6.

Is that the version you use as well?

Thanks,

Yes, mine is the same. I just tried what you said and it didn't lock up.

Use Enhanced Visual Voicemail For Cell Phones | YouMail. Works with no problems whatsoever and does not cost anything.

Okay, it's a little cost if you want a larger than a minute in box I think. I went ahead and bought it and will try it for a month. If I like it, I'll keep it, if not, I'll take the call forward off and I guess resume with VZMail.

I have to say, the icon for this app is easily the most ugly icon I have seen. I sure hate to have it on my screen it's so ugly. I hope they hire an artist to make an icon.

It seems I have to leave it on SMS at least or it won't know I have a new voice mail. Not crazy about getting both a text message and then the indicator for their voice mail. Annoying. I hope they figure a way to capture the SMS for their app without me having to see it if that's the transport they need.

It's not great, but it so far beats pulling a battery and rebooting the phone. It could stand improvement though.

Thanks for the tip.

I've had it lock up once or twice. This last time, clicked on the VVM icon several times, and after I gave up getting it to start, I got this error message:
Uncaught exception: VVMAIL_9630(234) is not responding. Process terminated.
Any ideas on what might be going on?

Signed up for Visual Voice Mail yesterday and it's locked up every time I've tried to exit the program. Did a reinstall this AM and now the locking issue has gone away. You might want to give it a shot.

I now have a new issue, however: as this is my first full day of having VVM working properly, I'm now noticing that I'm getting a notification in my Messages folder telling me I have voicemail. Prior to signing up for VVM, I had my VM notifications separated from my Messages folder. Anyone know how to separate VVM from the Messages folder?

Thanks.

Talking how to separate SMS and Email messages

Open message folder. Tap menu button. Scroll to options. Click on General Options. Scroll to SMS and Email Inboxes. Change to Separate.

I don't get that many VMs, but I do have Visual VM and I have been pretty click happy with it a few times with no crashes to report.
(both on .40 and .53)

Installed VVM about two weeks ago and have to say it is probably one of the most useful apps I have ever installed. I am running .53 OS. I have always detested voice mail as I am on the road all day and accessing/writing down messages was a pain. VVM now allows me to one click the message, listen, and leave it there for later consumption.....brilliant!! I have had zero issues. Oh, and I LOVE my Tour!

Installed, rebooted, and works great!
