Default Ringtone length

Please Login to Remove!

I have made a short song (wave file) as my ringtone.

But only 3 secs of the beginning part of the song plays as the ringtone.

Is there a way to increase the ringtone length?

I do not think there is, although my one ringtone seems to last about 10 seconds.

I don't think there is any way that a ringtone can be set to play 30 seconds of a tune, for example.

Moreover, if I was on a bus and heard someone's ringtone longer than a few seconds, the phone would be one with the pavement faster than the next phone ring.

I heard of a bug on the original firmware that would not stop an mp3 ringtone until the entire song was done, no matter what. I guess they went to the other extreme with the fix

i think its a bug. on my current ringtone, it will loop twice then get sort of stuck, and wont resume again for about 5 sec, near the end of the rings. not quite the same problem as yours but its probably related.

It plays plays the song for 3 secs (about), then a 3 sec gap & again 3 sec play from the start. It goes on for 4.5 rings.

It matches with the landline dialing sequence. When you call the cell phone from a land line, you can hear the 3 sec ring, 3 sec gap, 3 sec ring on the land line earpiece. It's same sequence if you call mobile to mobile.

I added an mp3 song as ringtone and it played it continously for around 10secs!

Not sure if being present in the music folder Vs ringtone folder made the difference or the type of file.

I don't think this MP3/Ringtone issue is a bug. I suspect it has something to do with:

1. The length of the MP3 ring tone.

2. The settings for the phone rings in the Profile.

I am not sure, but it seems some of those settings could affect the way long MP3 tones play. For example, there is setting it to "tone" "tone and vibrate" "number of vibrations" etc.

It just seems that those settings might affect whether a 30 second MP3 plays all the way through or not. Maybe the audible tone/notifier is interrupted when it goes to vibrate and back to tone.

Just some thoughts.
