Hey Guys I just got the Blackberry Bold from AT&T and i have been having a lot of dropped calls, and the device crashes often. Are they making updates to the os or anything? Any suggestions to improve its service?
What OS version are you running? If you are running .167, try updating to the latest official .190 or .210 (beta). Version .190 and .210 have worked great for me--big improvement over AT&T's current .167 OS.
before you upgrade, be sure to backup your berry and I recommend doing a search on properly installing upgrades as it can be problematic if not done correctly.
Yea upgrade to .190 cause iam running that right now and i love it, i even notice my battery life is alot better then OS .162 i had well whatever floats your boat...

Get a new unit. RF issues generally mean a hardware problem as for the crashes update the firmware. I would get another unit and see if the symptoms persist or try to see if anyone else has bad RF using AT&T. But to be on the safe side get a new unit, it sounds like a lemon to me.
Another obvious question no one has asked yet is what your service was like on your previous phone (8700?)? Did you have many dropped calls prior to your Bold? What type of signal strength (the negative db number) are you showing on your Bold now?
i got the stock at&t blackberry bold on official launch date (11-4) and it still has original 167. no issues here. wonder if you just got bad luck and the occasional bad device?
I used to have the pearl, but I'll update the firmware when i get back home. Hopefully that works, if not ill get it replaced.
Also How old is your SIM card, if your SIM card is old and doesn't support 3G then you're going to get Dropped calls, many people had this problem when the iPhone 3G came out and they had really old SIM cards that didn't support 3G.
@boldover:
I purchased my Bold at a retail store, not through AT&T directly. Apparently, the first two Bolds I got were either trial phones (the store allows someone to 'test' a cell phone for several days) or very early releases of the Bold. In any case, both failed to connect to any WiFi after a day or two of use. In addition, one would never switch from '3g' to '3G'. According to AT&T, '3g' implies that the data connection is 3G, but the Bold is not connected to BIS. The capital 'G' implies that it is connected to BIS.
Long story short, I went back to the retail store and demanded that I get a brand new Bold and I had them open it to make sure it had never been previously used by a customer (the first two Bolds had a broken seal on the battery wrapper right out of the box). It has been working perfectly since!
