Cool What good is a BB?

Please Login to Remove!

Not trying to start flames, but other than getting email and having internet, what other things are the BB service good for??? Am I missing something? I am paying extra per month for the BB service but if all there is to it is email and internet, I think I'm wasting my money. I don't even use the net on this thing.
Can I get some words of wisdom here?
thanks,
t

So you bought a Blackberry without knowing what good it is? Interesting....

Let's start with a single device that has phone, email, calendar, address book, tasks, memo pad, internet and a host of 3rd party applications (some free, some not).

If you have one, what did you base your decision on?

Depends what you decide to use it for. I work in an industry where I am in the field all day long and recieve about 30 emails everyday. Before the blackberry i would spend hours at the end of the day responding to emails what a waste of time for me.

If you just like to respond to email and are not required to then it may not be of much use to you.

I got the BB for mostly the calender/contacts applications as well as a phone. I tried the Treo 650 but found it to be junk. So I tried the BB and subscribed for the trial period. Memo's , am I missing something here? I wanted a PDA and phone. So where are all these 3rd party apps at? How do I access or find them?
Not trying to be stupid or sound sarcastic...just looking for honest knowledge to better utilize this device.
Thanks all

I have gone through the Treo 650, Treo 700, and XV-6700 and am back to using a blackberry. All of those phones have good qualities and tons of 3rd party apps. But nobody does email and phone better than the blackberry. If you want it for the cool factor or multimedia, get an xv6700. If you want a biz minded phone that handles all tasks extremely well, get a blackberry.

'Sloman' says it all!!! There are so many ways to get email to a mobile device but what BlackBerry does is deliver email securely, quickly and on a device that is simple and intuative to use - what could be better!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

I've had my blackberry for a little over two weeks and I can't go a day with out it there is no better feeling knowing you will always get your mail depending on your line of work. I just wish there was a remote desktop type app. You can controll a linux machine with ssh and some windows with a controll panel.

I can see that asking a simple question gets one smarta@# answers like the ones from BBAdmin and cybermikey. To the rest of you, thank you for your non-sarcastic answers. To the other two, you can BITE ME!

sloman, we can see you are not BB kind of people. You are bitter, foolish, and upset when you ask for a slap and get it. You offend us by saying BB are worthless then cry when we object to your child like behavior.

A lot of people find BB's to be very good for what it was intended to do. The world is using BB more than any other device it seems. It is not our fault that you didnt know what you were buying. It is a tool not a toy.

You sound like PocketPC sort of folk. Can we ignore people on this forum?

Default Hey Bill

You idolize the BB like it's a God-send when in reality it is a Palm Pilot with a phone. You are an idiot and one I am glad to not know. You offend me with your running at the mouth when someone is honestly looking for knowledge to better utilize a product. I believe your Bill the Cat picture fits you perfectly. Some creature strung out who is too stupid to envoke wisdom and berates someone who looks for it. Go back under your rock!

Good lord.

Anyway, I tried out the XV6700 and although I liked it as a PDA, I hated the phone. It was a PITA to use in the car for simple one-handed operation.

I was going to wait for the Q, but I said screw it, after talking to a Verizon rep. who said BBs although not as sexy as the WM5 smartphones, was much more stable and would fit my needs perfectly (phone, email, PIM). He was right, I love it.

I got the BB because of the email first the 7105t....two for my wife and I so would not have to pay text charges to the people we chat with. I then upgraded to the 8700g to bluetooth with my HP5555 PDA which will kick any phones butt...as yet I have not been able to use the BB as a modem. The internet is great and Iam waiting for the video.

I'm finding new ways to use my BB all the time, last week found out about the BB IM via the PIN function thats good and very cool, plus its one of the free messengers you can get hold of. the Email use is excellent my own flaw with it is that it does not work too well with attachments, hope BB can improve on this
