Get out of Sprint without paying ETF
September 28, 2010 · Filed Under Street Smarts · Comment

Those with a Sprint family plan along with a corporate discount, you can now opt out of your contract or have your contract mark as fulfilled.

Why? Starting last month, Sprint eliminated the discount from applying to additional lines beyond the primary line. Many people cell phone bills have gone up due to this change in the Terms of Service.

Here’s the change in the TOS:

Discount Policy Change Notice: Effective 8/1/10, employee/member discounts will no longer apply to add-on services with a monthly recurring charge of $29.99 or less. Examples include, but are not limited to, Messaging Add-Ons, Data Packs, and Data Premier

Simply dial *2, 5, 6 to take you to Account Services. These retention CSRs can do much more for you have your contract mark as fulfilled and you can now go month to month on your bill.

Tell them you do not agree to this change in your Terms of Service and you want your contract mark as fulfilled. Call enough time until you find the right CSR do it for you.

Some manage to get the CSR to get give you one month of service free or $10 off per month. Many freebies can be offered with this latest step from Sprint.

Sprint got themselves into this same situation before as well, and recently. They made a "material change" to everyone's contracts and had to re-sign folks by offering some sweet deals. I personally got a recurring credit of $20/month for the full 2 years of my contract. And that's on top of the 27% discount I get as a Citigroup employee.

Like the Russian guy says on the Dish Network commercial: "I jumped in it."
