Default BES 4.0 upgrade to SP3 (HF1) to fix this?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all
I've got an installation of BB server 4.0 running with MSDE on 2003 server.
Recently 4 people in the company got "Error" in the "Policty status" in BES manager. The BB messaging became intermittent for some people.

Windows is also logging this:

=====================
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1004
Date: 11-15-2005
Time: 19:05:21
User: DOMAIN\besadmin
Computer: SERVER
Description:
Detection of product '{8AC73B2E-5571-46F7-8772-8645709ABC5C}', feature 'Management', component '{9C4A57AF-9CE6-48F5-BC1E-AC92325BE34A}' failed.
The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents\MAPIProfile' does not exist.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

And this:
================
{user@domain.com, PIN=20140E5E,
UserId=4}RequestHandler::HandleITADMINDataCommand - ITPolicy Fail Ack for the command SET_IT_POLICY_COMMAND - Processing packet, Tag=14996191

================

I hope that SP3 with Hot Fix 1 can resolve these issues, but want to know if there are any seriouse troubles with these latest patches.

Any sugestions?

I have the same problems, i think it's a bug during the install procedere.
I'm waiting for an answer from my support hotline and RIM.

As for the top error, its a known issue and has been assigned an SDR. You shouldn't install Hotfixes just for the sake of having something new. They don't add any new IT Policy settings, and they simply correct issues that may or may not be occurring. You should read the Release Notes document prior to deciding to install it or not. With the Hotfixes for SP2, they fixed the MDS memory leak bug, so just about everyone should have installed them. However, with this one, it doesn't appear as if it really fixes anything of major concern.

So if ti had an SDR assigned it means that it was resolved with a SP or HF, right?

Regarding the second issue - people are complaining about e-mails not making it through. We use default IT policty, so i'm not concerened with it getting applied (unless it really has to).

What do you think?

if an SDR was assigned to it, which it was, it just means that its an acknowledged issue. if said SDR is listed in the Release Notes, then yes, it means it was fixed.

look at the IT Policy status for the user in question (you can look at the PIN listed in the log and find out which user has that PIN). if the policy is not being applied, then that could hint a larger problem which could have an effect on mail delivery.

Well, 4 users have "Policy Status - Error". The date of the last policty is far back in time. So it seems as if the policy is not getting applied to their BBs. Now, since we do use default policy, i don't know if that would affect mail delivery at all. If the policty hasn't changed, does it still need to get applied. I'm trying to get a hold of our reseller who is supposed to provide support for BB server.

Will see what they say.
