OK, now that Verizon has 4.0.0.171, would I expect to see any difference between that and the Telus 4.0.0.171 I have installed?

there shouldn't be any difference from version to version. if you aren't having issues with what you have loaded from another provider, i wouldn't worry about installing the same version from your provider.

Good afternoon, all. I downloaded the Verizon Blackberry 4.0 Desktop and Handheld software update for the Blackberry 6750. I installed the desktop software with no problem, but I cannot get the Handheld 4.0 software to install. The Desktop and Handheld Managers say I have the 4.0 software installed, but my handheld is still at 3.6. Can anyone please assist me with getting the 4.0 handheld softwre installed? I am using a Windows 2000 Pro laptop, if that's any help; I also have access to a Windows XP desktop. Thanks!

jibi:

Worked perfectly ... I should have paid more attention when I did my search. I thought that workaround applied to non-Verizon vendors. My bad.

Thanks again for your help!

I previously installed the Telus code on my VZW 7750. Now I want to install the verizon code on the same device. Since it is an upgrade it will install it without using javaloder. But is this the same as wiping it and installing the new code, in as far as that it will not keep any of the old code and only the new code will be on it.

I've seen a couple of posts here that indicated battery life improved with the installation of 4.0. I am finding the exact opposite. I have a 6750 and battery life definitely seems worse. I guess it could be due to activity but I don't think I am doing that much different. Anybody else see this or am I hallucinating again?

Default Upgraded T-Mo 7230 to 4.0 - having some issues...

Ok, I upgraded my T-Mo 7230 to 4.0 with the software posted on their site. Now, when I was installing the software into the Blackberry, I included WTLS (which was unchecked by default). Not sure if I need secure WAP services, but I thought what the heck - install it.

Now, after it installed, there was an icon for Enterprise Activation (I use Mailstreet as my Exchange provider), which got through 88% of the activation before failing on WTLS. So I cancelled it and rebooted.

Now I've got some interesting issues - the main problem is that e-mail seems to be coming to the BB sporatically. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't.

Wireless reconcilation doesn't seem to work at all - I try and it and nothing happens.

So my questions:

1. What is the enterprise activation? Who should I talk to about this? Mailstreet?
2. Do I need WTLS? Should I just uninstall it?

Any other thoughts welcome - I don't really get what's going on.

Thanks,

Damian

Ok - wanted to add a couple of things after I posted this:

1. The BB doesn't seem to be receiving email while cradled (connected via USB).

2. Email reconcilation is set to Desktop.

Thanks again!

I don't know about the rest of your issues, but getting e-mail while connected (or not) is a setting in the Desktop Mgr. It probably got changed when you upgraded. Though it didn't do that to me.

Both Cingular and AT&T have released BlackBerryOS Version 4.0.0.219 for the 7100g. This is newer than 4.0.0.198.

It is reported that this release now properly makes the 7100g work as a modem for laptop on Cingular.

If anyone with a 7290 tries out the 4.0.0.219 version, please post your specs and results!

Thanks,

MM

As far as I can tell, 4.0.0.219 is not available for the 7290 yet. The latest modules version is 4.0.0.198 (package 4.0.0.234).

This is extremely frusterating that cingular hasn't released the 7290 upgrade yet.

Is there any point in upgrading our BES to 4.0 if we can't upgrade the handhelds yet?

I tried to install v4 OS on my 7100 but now my BB is dead.. Only red blinking light and Desktop software doesn't see it as being connected.

This is the file I installed from the RIM website. 7100M_PBrER4[1].0.0_rel234_PL1.8.0.121_A4.0.0.198-Rogers.exe

Any way to reset the BB or get into it to reload an older OS?

pbc33:
You need to do a "javaloader -usb wipe" to reformat your BlackBerry.
Then you can install any older OS, or try again with the newer OS.
