Question unable to connect to the selected mobile data service, please try again later

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All

We have BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Exchange Ver 3.6.

The BlackBerry Browser on the heldhelds was working ok.

In the past few weeks it has stopped working, when users access the "BlackBerry Browser" on there handhelds they get the following error message "unable to connect to the selected mobile data service, please try again later" I have checked and the mobile data service is running on the server, i have tried various other things like disabling the proxy server etc but still nothing. Any ideas ? ? ?

Thanks
Duncan

This is a server issue and not a network (Tmo) issue, have you tried restarting the server since this issue began?

This may help. We had the same problem when migrating a 7290 from a BES outside our organization to our BES. The 7290 could send and receive email but not make any browser connections through the MDS, displaying the error "unable to connect to the selected mobile data service ...".

I checked the service book entries "Options -> Service Book" and saw that the UID parameter for "BrowserConfig" (and possibly "IPPP") did not match our BES SRP Identifier. Interestingly, the other services (ALP, CICAL, CMIME) were OK. This mismatch was fixed by cradling the 7290 on the BES Admin station and selecting the appropriate user. The browser now works fine.

Default RE: Unable to connect to the selected mobile data service, please try again later

I usually get this error when the Mobile Data service stops responding on my BES server. Stopping and restarting the service resolves the issue most times.

Once I had to call my Network provider (in my case Rogers) and they had me delete the "BB Internet Browsing Service" service from the Service Book and they re-provisioned the Browser client from their end.

Hope this helps,
