Default New to the world of BB's. Just wanted to say hello

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,

Just got a 8703e with Sprint. Longtime Treo user, but I got tired of all the soft resets and freezing. So I switched to my very first Blackberry. I've had it for about three days now. All I can say is wow. I love its reliability so far. With the treo, it would lock up at least once a day, and I would have to do a soft reset two to three times a day. I'm still trying to get used to the track wheel, but other than that it's been great.

I look forward to learning more things about my blackberry, and how to make it work perfect for me. Thanks!

CRACKBERRY is a nick name given to the Blackberry due to its addictive nature. In a few weeks you will completely understand

Ok, gotcha. I thinks its too late. I'm already addicted to the CRACKBERRY!!! A much higher high than the Treo. At first I thought I would miss the camera on the Treo, but I don't.

Thank you.

I did a search regarding a specific question that I have regarding my new 8703e, but could not find an answer to. Maybe someone can answer this for me. On the treo I could assign a ringtone for all caller id/known callers, then a ringtone for all blocked/unknown caller id's. I'm not talking about ringtones for specific contacts, that part of it I do know how to do. Thanks.

Welcome jigga57.

You can set a general ringtone and specific ringtones for specific callers, but not a separate RT for unknown or blocked caller IDs.

well basically its not reall a group of callers per say. On the treo 700wx, you can assign a ringtone for unknown callers, and a ringtone for known callers. Unknown callers would be any number that shows up as blocked id or unknown id. Known callers would be anyone whether in my contacts list or not, that would show an actual phone number in the caller id. I liked this because if my phone rang with one ringtone, I knew it was a blocked or unknown number, and could just let it go to voicemail(basically screening the call). If it rang with another ringtone, I knew that either the caller was on my contacts list or a caller that I could see their number. This way I would look and see if I wanted to answer and talk to that specific person.
