This is still an unsolved issue for me. I just today tried updating to the latest 8700c firmware that I could find (Bharti) but that didn't help. The issue still exists. 5 seconds and then the phone drops the connection to the headset.

This stinks...

Thumbs down Me too and $85 poorer

I wish I had searched for this issue before I bought another handsfree device! I assumed it was my handsfree device that had gone on the fritz so I shelled out another $85 only to find it doing the same thing. I was going to go to the latest download, Bharti, but reading this it appears it wont help. What is stange is the unit is almost 3 months old and this started happening in the last week. Same thing as everyone else, I will be talking away and suddenly they're gone, look at the handset and the call has reverted to the handset, select activate the handsfree device and it is back for a few seconds. Jibi, NJBlackberry, any of the gurus got any ideas?

Also, anyone have any definitive idea whether this is software related or hardware related?

I stoppped by my service provider today and asked if they had reports of problems with the 8700V and bluetooth and they confirmed several cases exactly like mine.

Default 8700C Bluetooth issues

I actually spoke to RIM tech support. They've admitted that there are bugs in the latest firmware, and they are working to fix them for the next release, but no firm release date yet.

Cool So its software?

Well my service provider is giving me a new handheld today but if the BT goes again I will sit tight if it is truly software.

I have a T-Mobile 8700g that I have had for about 4 months. I have NEVER had this problem. On occasion, it will not connect with my BMW until I go and ask it to, but that is maybe 1 in 50 times, and it works great. The one time it loses connection is when I am on the bluetooth, and I get a calendar reminder. The wierd things with that is it doesnt to it all the time, that is the only thing I can figure is the trigger though. It actually does not just disconnect the bluetooth, my whole device shuts down and I get the white hour glass screen for about 10 minutes. That is very annoying, but hat only happens about once a month, and then it reconnects. I use bluetooth in the car about 1500 minutes per month, and it works great. I even had to get my handset replaced (my fault, I broke the screen) and the new one worked great. That is wierd this many people are having this problem. Is it isolated to one carrier? To just GSM devices? What are the similarities.

Unhappy 8703e - same problem

I have a new 8703e from VZW and am having the same problem - bluetooth drops connection every 10 seconds or so. Have verified this with two different bluetooth headsets. Problem is so similar, thought I would stick with this existing thread as opposed to starting a new one. Anyone else with an 8703e having this issue?

Smile Solved for me - You are not going to believe this

I think I have resolved my problem and you are not going to believe how. This was the direction I received from a VZW Data Tech (Thank you VZW):

Delete pairing
Hard Reset (Turn Off, Remove Battery, Turn On)
When you go to do the pairing make sure the bluetooth headset is at least 4or 5 feet apart from the blackberry (I had previously done it with them just inches apart from each other during the pairing).
I did this and my bluetooth is now remaining connected all the time.

Apparently when you pair, the distance is factored in to what drives subsequent connections between the blackberry and the handset.

Hope this helps you as well!

I'm not sure this would be affective. In my director's case, his BT worked just fine with his Lexus, but once he paired his BB to a BT headset, that's when he started having disconnect issues. I suppose I can test this theory myself as I have an Infiniti and a headset and see how that works.

prmiller, thank you for this information. I am pairing a 7130c with a Nokia BH-900. I do not have the same problem of disconnects during a call. My issue is when idle the BH-900 and 7130c will disconnect and reconnect until they just quit trying to reconnect. However, after performing your instructions the two devises are MUCH more stable. Sometimes the devices will disconnect and then reconnect once or twice but it is now A LOT more stable.

Are there any plans to support sim access profile via Bluetooth on future bb's so that new technologies such as car integration will be possible? That would be very useful.

I tried the idea about pairing the 8700c with the headset from 5-6 feet apart. They paired up fine, but the phone still deactivates the headset after 5-10 seconds of being on the call. Even if I use the phones "Activate xxx headset" option it reactivates the headset only for 5-10 seconds and then the headset gets deactivated by the phone again.

This stinks.

How long until RIM comes up with some firmware to fix this?

im getting my 8700c soon and im curious if this is a 8700 only issue.. my 7290 with 655 does not do this... however i have noticed that if i make a call and my bb in out of the holster the call goes through and connects, but if i place the call then put my bb in the holster the call with not connect sometimes, i have to wait for it to connect then put it in the holster... anyone else experience this?

This is exactly the same problem I am having with my wife's Mercedes. However, my 8700 works her's doesn't. The only difference between mine and her's is she is set up with Blackberry Enterprise server which locks some of the firewall settings. Will some of you try disableing your firewall and see if the problem goes away?

Thanks

Default BB 8700 Drops Audio after 8 seconds

I have had the same issue with 3 different plantonics BT headsets and my 8700. I am currently trying to make it work with a 510. I had the same issue with a 640 and 655. The 640 worked with my BB 7100g.

I tried the delete, hard reset and pairing from 5-6 feet but still have the problem.

HELP!

I have used the Plantronics 655 and currently have the Plantronics 510 using it with the 8700c. I do not have these issues at all. A co-worker of mine also has the 510 with the 8700c with no issues.

Not that this post fixes your issue but it's not a global issue.

The LCD on my 8700c broke the other day, so I ended up getting a replacement phone. This one does not exhibit the dropped connection phenomena that my old one did. Not sure why, but I'm going to be paying close attention to see what the delta is if it occurs again.

Default Any answers?

I'm a more recent 8700g user and I swapped from an Ericsson T68 where the GN Netcom BT headset I have worked perfectly.

Now as with lots of others i have this thing where the BB drops the call after about 5 seconds.

Was there a resolution???

please.............

Angry 8700g drops Bluetooth connection

Folks,

Was there an answer to this problem or is it still an issue awaiting a hoped-for fix in a future firmware update?

Just got a new 8700c using it with a Jabra BT500v, upgraded it to the latest firmware/software and it does it constantly....

Completely totally worthless....

Love the unit but they need to fix the Bluetooth
