Sorry for the confusion. Once we are ready to test, if it is ok, maybe I can give you a holler to try it out. I don't happen to have that puck handy.
You can holler at me too, if you need someone else to test it out with a GPS puck

I have an Altlel 8703e which has GPS enabled and this works great for me! I have never used GPS before, so I have a question:

I'm at home and live in a smaller rural town. When the program is finding my location it puts me about 6 blocks from my house. Is this normal for a smaller, rural area? If I was in Kansas City, for example (where I would be more likely to need very accurate directions), would the location be more spot-on??

This is great! Thanks!!!

The GPS may fall back to a cell tower location at worst, which might be what you are seeing. Remember, you can always go up and force a location if you prefer, or just choose a new location on your searches.

The application uses internal Blackberry API's to access Location Based Services. The phone (if it has the ability) will either return a true GPS location based on the GPS chipset, or fall back to LBS which can either be triangulation or a cell tower location. (the farther down the stack you go, the less accurate). It really depends on the signal strength (and capabilities) of the phone. It will never change settings on you.
When you say the GPS settings on the phone that includes the GPS paramaters on the GPS chipset too I take it. Sounds like that is what you meant.

I just downloaded the program onto my 7100i. When I tried to get my location it told me it could not get it and to try later. When I escaped out it showed me a map with my exact location.

When I tried to see what was near by I tried office supplies and it told me there were no matches. (There is a Staples 1 block east of me). When I tried fast foods again it told me there were no matches. (Burger King less then a mile west of me).

That is interesting Dispatcher..

Can you verify for me if one of these two Burger Kings are near you?
Burger King in Marlborough Ma - InfoSpace Find It!

Also, does the location at the top of the screen now show your current location correctly?

You're right. There's a cell tower about 200 yards from the address it was giving me.

This is a great app. I use Pocket Express a lot (waiting for a version update for the 8800) for directions, lookups, etc., but this integrates nicely with the internal GPS receiver which is a huge plus. I only did a few searches and everything came up fine. I will road test it soon.

If you have not seen it yet, once you look up a business, choose GET DIRECTIONS. From there you can even choose spoken directions.

Keep in mind that this is NOT a real time GPS turn by turn application. Think of a middle ground between paper directions and GPS applications like a Garmin device. It is neither, but a little of both.

Unfortunately, I get the following error:

Error starting app_findit13_Blackberry_8800: Error loading module
'app_findit13_Blackberry_8800' too many applications loaded.

I have loaded other applications afterwards.

Anyone have advice?

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Installed on 8700g and played with it for a minute. No problem so far. Will explore any conflict with GPS puck later.

Update: ok, this reminds me. I think I tried to use a mobile infospace web site to do people and business lookup. When I would look for restaraunts, for example it would show far away ones as nearby. There is one that is 20 miles away on the same US HWY that runs through my zip code, and infospace shows it 0.97 miles away. Well, find it does same thing. Find It shows the correct city in the restaraunt's address, but the map shows it on the highway in my zip code, not in the coorect city. I will be uninstalling it.

Can you let me know what city/restaurants you are seeing that issue with? I would like to look into the source data we are using and understand why that is happening. It could be invalid source data, it could be the geocoding of the address we are getting, or it could just be a bug. I would like to investigate.
