What am I doing wrong?

I have had the 8700 for a few hours now. I tried Verichat, turns out to be so damn complicated to get it running I gave up, for now. But now I realized that I am not getting my emails pushed to me! What gives? I have Cingular, and I set it up on the web site correctly with a pop account and my .mac account. I have sent myself several test emails that all appear in my inbox on my Mac, but not on the BB. Stumped...
EDITED: I just got the first test email on the BB, from over 5 minutes ago - what happened to instant push?

If you send mail to your actual BB account, then it will be instant...POP accounts however, are only polled at intervals...upto as long as 15 mins I believe

What do you mean what happened to instant push. NO SUCH THING!
You mail will take no longer than 15 minutes on BIS. This is the way it ALWAYS has been and you will find it works VERY well. If you want instant, a email directly to your Cingular BB address will only take a few seconds. PIN to PIN even less time.
Just clam and enjoy your BB, I am on my 5th years now and just got the 8700 and I could not live without it at my company. |

Gee Greg, for the thousands of us with BES we have instant push. Perhaps the OP didn't know the difference between BES and BIS e-mail. Lighten up.

Since you have a .Mac email account, you can log into your .Mac account on the internet and select "forward mail to this address" under preferences. That's what I do, and I usually get mail on my BB quicker than my PowerBook.

Also, if your MAc removes the emails from the your ISP server when it retrieves the emails it won't be on the ISP when the Cingular Blackberry Internet Service (aka Balckberry Web Client) checks your ISP for email (about every 15 minutes). If that is the case you need to exit your laptop email program to be sure of having the BIS able to forward email to your 8700 OR change the settings on your laptop email program so that it doesn't immediately delete email when it retrieves them from the ISP. In Outlook you can set the email delete function to wait a day after email is downloaded to your primary computer before deleting from the ISP or wait for you to delete them from your laptop before deleting email from your ISP. I assume your MAC email program can do something similar

I can use verichat just fine. The only issue that I am having with it is that I have no sound when an "IM" is sent to me. I went into my default BB profile and selected the tone, volume, etc. for "chat", "foreground", and "background" windows. Still now sound! :( I am going to hit the verichat forums today to see if I can find a resolution.

I have been using a .mac account for about two years and if you select the "forward" option it will not leave a copy of the email on the .mac server. Unless, the policy has recently changed. |

There is a box you can check that will leave the forwarded message on the .Mac server. That's how I have mine set up, so I can delete things from my BB but still have it in my inbox when I get home if I need it.

Now I got it - I forwarded and checked keep on server, my .mac account to the BB account, and set the reply as address to the .mac account that I want to use, now I get almost instant email from .mac account, and when replying the receiver gets my .mac account address. This is exactly what I wanted, thanks to those who were HELPFUL and COURTEOUS. Sorry for being a newb, but everyone was once...

I set up my gmail to come to my 8700, but it is not working, anysuggestions? I have sent three test messages and I still haveen't received them after 1 hour.

How have you set gmail up?
What filters are you using?

I have pop set up on gmail, then I went and added the gmail account to my blackberry account and it won't forward. I can send mail, but nothing is getting pushed down to me. I don't have any filters set up, it says "foward messages to device".
