Default "device media processor is busy"

What the hell does that mean??

My 9900 now won't play any music. I deleted the Podcast app from Appworld and now this happens.

Any tips on how to correct?

This device is turning into a dud!

Don't know. But obvious question: Did you try a hard reset?

Media processor busy means another application to the one you're trying to run has the media processor occupied. Common error and not unique to the 9900.

Has nothing to do with the app you unistalled. I usually get it when i'm trying to play media in the internal player while having media paused in podtrapper.

Hold down bb key and see what you're running that holds the dsp device open.

I haven't seen this before, and I have paused a podcast (BlackBerry Podcasts) to play another media file from the media card. I wonder if the difference is that I'm using RIM apps and not third-party?

Most 3rd party players use RIM's player. Podtrapper does. If more than one applications compete to open/write to a dsp device someone would win and someone would get the error described.

It may be also related to buffer availability on the audio device, since it doesn't always come up, even under same reproduced conditions.

Did a bit more audio testing. Seems the audio device can actually cope with multiple audio streams from different apps and plays them all nicely. A mixer should be in place since it also allows to assign output levels (volume) per channel. Chokes a bit with audio/video streams in tandem (podtrapper allows an audio/video playback to continue playing in background even if you escape the app)

Testing concluded that my initial assumption was incorrect. Applications using the dsp device don't place a lockfile and multiple audio/video streams are allowed to compete for output.

The error most likely describes some kind of resources exhaustion, a race condition that develops using resource hungry codecs or possibly a bug.

I don't consider playback of multiple streams to be normal use and i bet the manufacturer agrees with me. Stick to single streams and i don't expect any of us to see it again anytime soon.

So, torberry, does it keep happening?

I fixed it but I honestly can't tell you how! I believe it started reworking once I hooked it up to bb desktop manager.

Btw, WIKITUDE ROCKS!
