Default Selling BlackBerry Bold Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, so im selling my bold and im getting an htc fuze.

When I wipe my bold and give it to the new owner, I assume there will be the same pin on it, so what happens to my contacts on the blackberry messenger? Will they think its still me and try to add this new owner?

Yep. The PIN follows the device.
Better tell your contacts that you don't have that phone anymore.

I know you didn't ask for opinions on your new phone choice, but I'm going to offer it. The Fuze sucks, especially compared to BlackBerry.

Even after loading the vanilla ROM with no at&t bloatware, it was still slow as molasses in January. Much slower than a BB will ever be. The only saving grace is the keyboard, which is absolutely incredible. The touchscreen is absolute poo. Not even close to my iPhone. It also sucks having to used the USB to 3.5mm headphone adapter.

Oh you guys are MORE than welcome to talk about this.. I do it alot on att wireless forums. lol

So on craigslist, NO ONE wants my blackberry.. lol what now...

But yea, I use to have the Iphone 3g, then went to the blackberry cuz I wanted MMS again... but then they rolled out with the 3.0 update and I was pretty pissed...

I do want a windows mobile phone b/c of the tethering option which is alot easier than the blackberry. As of right now, I use Mobishark, and it cost me $50 and it isn't THAT great, it freezes alot and its a pain to only use 5 proxies at a time...

Windows Mobile options especially in 6.1 pro makes it alot easier. " click internet sharing and poof "... Unlike this blackberry app, where it sucks, AND I PAID FOR IT!! haha...

Btw, Blackberry Bold's video sucks. its 50/50 with this thing. Either the video loads, or it doesn't.. and it buffers alot.

Make sure that you have canceled your BIS account so the PIN/IMEI can be used by the buyer to set up email.

If there was an IT Policy on it, remove that as well.

BIS is your BlackBerry data plan. The account lets you control certain things like sending service books, getting rid of the signature at the bottom of emails.

So Ill just go in to my settings and delete the 2 email accounts? Or do I delete my whole bis account? I looked, there is no way to shut it down unless im missing something..

Dell, you'll need to call your carrier to "release your PIN" from their BIS server.

I think you can select the "Change Device" option, and leave the PIN blank, but I'm not 100% sure if that works.

Best to call your carrier and have them delete your BIS config.

Even if you do manage to get the PIN off the account, do you really want random email accounts orphaned on systems you won't have access to? If the answer is no, get the carrier to delete the whole thing.

Thanks so much for your help, I really do thank you!

When I "release" my pin, when I sell my phone, what happens to the new owner? Does he or she have to call att and ask for a new pin / imei number? I want to be sure I tell the new owner everything he/she needs to know, so they can be a happy blackberry owner and not frustrated with it ya know?

No the pin number stays with the device. It's just released from your account so they are free to "connect" it to their own account.

oh gotcha gotcha. I knew that much.

So does it cost anything for the person to add this to their account?...

So what I want to say to att, is that I want to "release my imei?"

No charge. When the new owner gets your Bold and signs up for their own account, the PIN will be connected to their account.

No tell AT&T you want to release your BlackBerry PIN (since you're selling the Bold).

Ex Windows Mobile user here. WM5, WM6 WM6.1 and 6.1 Pro. Had a Samsung Epix with a touch screen for one week. Couldn't stand it. WM without the touch screen is better. If you're used to an I Phone and are switching to 6.01 Pro get ready for a rude awakening.

I had the Iphone 3g, then went from that TO the bb bold. I teather and its really annoying doing it through this program I have called Mobishark. I paid $50 for it, so eh. I feel like its a loss. I had a samsung blackjack I-607 ( old one ) and I LOVED it. So im really familiar with the wm platform. I think its built better.

And I do agree, I do like the non touch screen, although that epix I think it is, has that touch dpad thing. that looks really cool.
