I would have gone for nothing smaller than a 2GB. With OS 4.5 you can use up to 16Gb (although 8Gb is all that is out so far.)

Yep. The more memory, the better. I got an 8 GB SanDisk SDHC from NewEgg for roughly $40.00.

If you intend to use your bb as your primary mp3 player, you should go for the biggest capacity card you can afford or as big/slightly bigger than your music library. 1GB might give you 250 songs.

I just created a test playlist in iTunes, and limited the playlist to 1 GB of music. I ended up with 155 songs. These are MP3s, recorded with variable bitrate of no less than 192 kbps (average is 256). That worked out to roughly 11 hours of music.

Yep, 1GB should give you at least 200-250 songs. Just remember that you'll probably end up with photos or videos on there too.

Wirelessly posted (off to see the wizard)

2GB better deal doesn't cost much more than a 1GB

My songs are mostly 128kbps and my old 1GB nano 2nd gen holds about 230 songs. YMMV...

I started out with a 2GB and I quickly filled that up. I then got a 4GB, which I am beginning to fillup, so I will probably be looking into a 8GB in the next few weeks, especially since I will pobably transfer alot of my documents to my SD card since we get Docs to go. But I really do you use my BlackBerry for anything and everything my Bon Jovi songs are at a 320 bit rate and I very big collection of Bon Jovi songs (over 300+ songs). Not to mention the documents I keep on my SD card, as well as my ringtones (most of them are just for comic relief) and all the pictures I take on my phone.

Just to be safe I would get a 2 GB (only like 20-30 bucks), it doesn't sound like you have alot of music but I am sure your collection will grow and since you have an 8310 you probably use the camera feature. This way you don't fill it up too fast and make the same mistake I did.

You can actually get the 8gb now for $30-40 from Amazon and other sites, 4gb for less than $20 is common.
