No issues here either with the 4.5.0.81 Rogers OS on my AT&T phone.
There are plenty of cool 4.5 themes available, you just have to look for them.

Honestly... another misinformed RIM basher. Got news for ya, your business is not with RIM, it's with your carrier, which is where your beef should lie as well.

RIM releases these operating systems to the carrier, not to you. It is up to the carrier to decide which features to activate/disable and when to release it to Joe Plumber. The 4.5 release(s) to the carrier were made months ago. It's ATT that's dragging their feet, not RIM.

Call your carrier and ask, lol. See what kind of response you get?

Would you call GM for a problem with your oil change or a replacement part for a car? Usually you would call your dealer, mechanic or the seller, and ONLY the manufacturer when all else fails... You are the client of the carrier. Demand better service there.

I hope that since AT&T is taking so long to release their version of 4.5 that they would have this super duper OS for my 8310 that would take care of all outstanding issues. An Example like the BB media player issue with no screen saver and hoistering the phone without shutting down the player when in use. That kind of stuff. ok who wants to buy a bridge I will take the highest bidder.

OK. Both Verizon and T-Mobile has 4.5 out now. Is AT&T still going to wait until Nov 14? What could they possibly be waiting for now?

I think the real question is, what are you waiting for? 4.5 has been released by carriers for like 6 months.

Is this a common problem, or unique to you and your BB?

Oh my. The "AT&T Version" won't help you.

You should have the browser with any version.

Isn't this a known issue with 4.5 on ATT 8700s?

Good Luck with that! AT&T will probably make sure that the generic internet browser built into the OS will be disabled as usual. For some reason they think the MediaNet Browser or Cingular Browser should be the only option. More bloatware...

I'm not holding my breath.

This isn't true. Other than the 4.5 on 8700 issue, I've never not had both the standard internet browser and medianet (and blackberry browser as I'm on BES).

For the Bold to be released. You wouldn't what your customers having a new OS with new features when you can sell them a new, over priced Bold.

These threads are driving me nuts!
I beg to differ, but 4.5 does not work great with those of us on a fixed income who cannot afford the data plan. I rely on my mms and sms for info. When loading the Rogers version, or any other for that matter, the "Network To Send Over" in Options/SMS Text does not have GSM. Without this, att bb users cannot receive mms pics, etc. My husbands samsung can do this!! I have been trying for a week to get it to work, but all I have managed to do is load and unload platforms at the suggestion of those people who know bb's back and forth. So I guess I will have to wait. If you know anything, please let me know. Thanks.

My daughter has 4.5 on her phone and she gets MMS and SMS without data. My son used to but he has a data plan now. We are using the
unlimited messaging package.

I loaded 4.5 on my daughter's AT&T 8110 several weeks ago. She does not have a BB data plan. It is used as a phone and for SMS and MMS. She pays only for a messenging plan. It works great!

Hey everyone! I have quoted my previous post. It seems it was not the GSM thing at all. Turns out my BB is faulty and ATT is sending me a new one. The gal at the ATT Store knew way more about BB than the ATT tech support. She is a long-time user of BB and she is now my go-to gal. So it seems my problem will be fixed if I don't get another faulty bb.
