Default Bluetooth Transfer Question

Please Login to Remove!

First of, just want to say this is the AUTHORITY for answers as I had two answered last night almost instantly and want to thank everyone again. I purchased a D-Link Bluetooth 2.0 USB Adapter (didn't come installed with my laptop) today. It's model # DBT-120. I installed it and had no problem pairing it with my device. In the software included is a Bluetooth Manager and also a Wireless File Transfer. I attempted to send a .jpg via this software to my Blackberry 8700c (Cingular) and it rejected it saying, "Remote device does not support service." When I check my "Services" it reads, "Headset, Handsfree, Desktop Connectivity, Wireless Bypass, and Dial-Up Networking." Is there anyway to expand the "Services" the 8700c is capable of to be able to receive the pictures? And does this mean I can't send ANY files, be it .mp3, .jpg, .txt to my phone via Bluetooth? I'll fully admit I'm a bit of a noob here, not to my phone but to the Bluetooth connectivity world. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm using a Pearl and have not had any luck transferring larger files to my phone via Bluetooth. I can transfer ~500kb JPGs, but have had no luck with MP3s.

Is there any possibility to "enable" or "add" the "File Transfer" service on 8700g, thus its bluetooth can transfer files between PC or other handset? this is s/w or h/w limitation?
[somehow I am quite disappointed w/ this limitation on BB...]

the bluetooth file transfer profile wasnt added until os 4.2, the 8700g cant send/receive content over bluetooth to a pc or other device, it can be used with audio devices or used as a wireless modem

unless your running 4.2 your going to need to send it through email from pc to bb

I have not used the 4.2 floating around but the 8700g that had tmo's 4.2 still not fricking released running on it had the bluetooth content xfer profile, though it also had voice dial.

Right, now as of this date, if you get a new 8700, you will have 4.1 installed. With 4.1, you must transfer ringtones from a website, using your BB browser, to your BB. Ringtones do not transfer via BT, email or mindmeld.

Under 4.2 OS, you can use Media Manager for most all media transfer to the BB device, as well as BT transfer, which you would understand if you read this thread above, with at least two posters saying bluetooth transfer works. To upgrade your 8700 to 4.2 OS, read this thread link below, and follow those instructions. Questions about the process are best posted in that thread.
