Default BlackBerry Manager aborts and nsd is running

Please Login to Remove!

Hy,

I have installed a BES 4.1.3 SP3 + HF1 on a Domino 6.5.4 server. If I try to add an new user in BlackBerry Manager, it aborts and nds is running.

I have no idea. :(

When did the abort happen? When you click on the "add user" link? Or some other action after that click? If you have a TSupport contract with RIM, you may like to gather the BES logs and NSD log file for tech to analyse. Otherwise contact your service provider, whom you purchase the BES software.

if you want to attempt, take a look at the Manager's (MNGR) log and see if you can decipher anything from the errors logging in it.

By any chance, do you have any replication conflict docs or duplicates in the NAB?

Are all the security properties for run methods, etc... setup?

Seperate notes server for BES server?

BES server separate or all in one box?

BES runs on Notes server. (all in one)

We have one domino server.

What does the NAB mean?

BES + Domino run on windows 2003 server with SP2

BES runs with localadmin rights on the server.

thx.

Sounds like your Notes Address book <NAB> is not replicating correctly also.
Also do you run a SQL server
You may want to take your BES down. Recycle the SQL server.
Then when SQL is up. Then boot up your BES server

Not a very recommended setup...how many users are we talking about on the domino server in total, how many of those are blackberry users?

BES on 2K3 SP2 is NOT supported by RIM, although there is a thread that mentions it working, but I don't run production servers in unsupported configurations.

And, officially, Notes 7 isn't supported on SP2 of Win2K3:
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 application compatibility

Single server - nope, probably not a replication issue at the server, but there still could be dups and/or conflict docs in there.

There are about 100 Domino users and 5 blackberry users.

First off, one of the reasons this isn't a recommended configuration is that in doing a simple task in BB Manager, you've taken the notes server down for 100 users in your case for the sake of 5 bb users...not happy users...

Anyway,

1. When the NSD runs, it should be producing logs in the IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT directory somewhere on the server (under "data").

Anything useful in there?

2. If you run the BB manager from a client, do you get the same results?

3. When that error occurs, does the server die completely?

4. If you start the domino server with minimal "Tasks", and just have nbes running, any difference?

5. Is this BES "Express" i.e. the free edition? If so - you do get 60 or 90 days of free phone support if you register for it...

I'd hazard a guess that it was looking for some dll or something that is installed with a Notes client but may or may not be path'd or setup on the server.

But I would imagine that you've stopped debugging the problem...

I have stopped debugging the problem because the workaround works.

We had the same problem. It's how you connect to the BES. If you do this with remote desktop without the console option the BES Manager will abort and NSD is running in specific situations like add user, find user, etc.
Try to connect with: Start --> Run --> "mstsc -v <IP address BES> /console" then you are able to work correctly with the manager.
We are running on domino 6.5.4 FP3 and BES 4.1.3 HF1. We recognized this problem first when we moved from 4.0.5 to 4.1.2

Thanks x22, that's good info. Now that we are migrating to 4.1.3 I will make sure to always use the console option.
