Default Internet on Blackberry is SLOW (8330)

Please Login to Remove!

I am brand new to blackberry and I have been looking through forums for a solution to this answer..

Everything works good except for the internet browser. It takes 1-2 minutes for each webpage/internet based application to load.

I have a Blackberry 8330
Device Software: 4.5.0.186
The battery is currently 85%
It says that File Free is 47869332Bytes

Sometimes my connection says 1X and other times it says 1xEV

*I tried ALT+lglg
*I also tried pulling the battery
*I also tried clearing browser history

My response is non-technical, general, and maybe lame. My Internet on my new 8330 is slow, too, despite having full battery, a BoostMobile account that I think rides with Sprint's network, a cell tower maybe two blocks near, and so forth. I just don't expect anything very fast using a smart phone. And my big complaint is always the overly-ambitious ways web sites are written; they're choked up with every bell & whistle that can be written into them. I fully expect that my beloved little BlackBerry just can't handle all that clutter. Hope that makes some sense and doesn't seem too lame a comment.

What are you comparing the speed with - cable and/or DSL? You won't get those speeds at all.

1-2 mins to load a web page seems excessive, however. What are they? Are they optimized for mobile viewing? Do others have the same issue when loading those pages?

1x is barely faster than dial-up and 1xEV is a bit faster.

Thumbs up Re: Internet on Blackberry is SLOW (8330)

Hey guys I appreciate the replies!

I realized that the speeds of the smartphone weren't going to come near that of cable, but I thought they'd be a little bit faster than the sub-dialup stuff I am getting.

My browsers just seem to kind of lag and then they'll load really fast right at the end. Also, when I am on my phone's home screen it seems to toggle between 1x and 1xEV. I didn't know if this was normal?

The site I was trying to bring up was google. It would take about a minute to load and it only had the one logo image on it..

Once again, I appreciate any advise.

How many bars of reception are you getting? If it's really low, the device might be trying to maintain a connection and doing the data download stuff at the same time, which means things will slow down.
