Well, I do have Windows 7. Also tried to delete the vendor.xml files before, but the install unfortunately failed.

No, I don't. Why? Is it necessary to do an update?
Oh and btw, I'm trying to update it right now (4th attempt). I'm trying it once more with deleting the vendor.xml file and it's been stuck at the point where it "Reads device service information". Is that good or rather not?

It is significantly more difficult to upgrade to OS v5 without a data plan.

Please search for threads on some techniques that some people have used successfully.

Good luck.

Okay, Ive tried to upgrade my Blackberry and it failed. I installed the file from Wind Hellas, made a backup, then wiped it (apparently only works this way in order to upgrade a phone without data plan to 5.0) and then started the apploader.
Everything works (it recognized the phone with PIN and so on) until the point where it actually should install the new software.
I was even able to select all the things I want to install.
But somehow the application loader wizard is then stuck at "Connecting to Boot Rom".
Does somebody know how to fix this, so that I can use my Blackberry again? :( Thanks in advance.

[update] Got it working again, even though it isn't the 5.0 version as I wanted... but doesn't matter, at least I've got a working phone. [/update]

Default Keypad tones back again

I have just installed the new 5.0.0 software and now I find that when I dial out to make a call I get the keypad tones from the speaker which I hate. You used to be able to avoid this by using the Quiet profile on the old 4.6 version.

Anybody got a fix for this I have tried everything I know of across all profiles but no good

I just installed this build and found that version 5.0 officially doesn't suppurt the My faves feature of T-mo. is there any workaround for that. I used first an older version that didn;t even had the my faves on screen, but at least this version has the 5 circles on the main screen but can't do anything to configure it. For the rest of the phone, it works better than the original 4.6 OS.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

My 9700 came with a sticker on the box that said the device did not dupport MyFaves. MyFaves is being phased out, I heard, so I wouldn't expect to see compatibility any time soon. There is no workaround that I have found.

Bummer... I liked the functionality of that one... Is there any app for the BB's that can do the same.I know that my plan is an unlimited one so the faves can be seen as redundant but it was great having the faves on the main screen.

thanks 4 a gr8 thread and the help to upgrade.

I have a question regarding the Latest OS: 8520 5.0.0.1004/5.0.0.592 (Multilanguage):
I have noticed after upgrading that it has changed the button to unlock the keypad to the mute button, is there a way to change it back to the A/* and send buttons?? If so how can I do it??

Is there a way to have your contacts list the contacts and telephone numbers together in the contact list??

Thanks a million, much appreciated!!
