Default Problem getting music to play through bluetooth on 4.5.0.99.

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded my BB 8100 to OS 4.5.0.99.

Unless I'm mistaken, I thought I read that one of the features of this OS was the ability to play music through bluetooth.

I have the Motorola H12 headset. It is not a stereo headset, but the only thing I have on my SD card is stand-up comedy. Comedy does not need to be in stereo. Mono is just fine.

I have been listening to the stand-up through the H12 for a long time now using xPlayer. So, I know it works.

However, I was hoping to be able to use the media player built into OS 4.5 since it's a little nicer looking -- i.e., shows album art, etc.

Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing, or am I going to have to continue to use xPlayer for this purpose?

Thanks in advance.

Your new OS may output correctly but your headset does not support it. You have to use a headset that is A2DP capable. I use the Jabra BT530. It worked perfectly with music and mono podcasts from my Pearl.

It works with xPlayer, though. So, why wouldn't it work with the native media player?

(totally not using official terminology)

the BB Media Player pays more attention to the headset's available services (listed under Properties within the BT device app and shown during the completed connection "pop-up"). if the headset doesn't tell the 'berry it supports stereo audio, the 'berrry won't send the signal.

xPlayer will use any present audio-out connection and doesn't care about the type or device's protocols. it's something within their code, which is how they were able to provide bluetooth audio before the BB Media Player could.

or something like that.
