Hi there

i have a blackberry 8520 which i have had from new when i first got the phone i set up the desktop manager on my pc which is running windows xp
and it worked fine..
Since then i have done a clean windows install and went to set it up the otherday but my phone is not detected i have checked that mass storage is turned on on the phone which it is
i have also tryed downloading an earlier version of desktop mannager but still not working ...
i have also done a clean windows install but still refuses to work
the phone does not show up in my computer when i connect it via usb cable.
when i do connect it to the pc i get the little black usb icon in the taskbar i click on it and a box pops up with info about the usb ect which says the following UNKNOWN USB DEVICE

i have been trying to solve this problem for days and dont know what else to try please can someone help me

i am also facing d same prob but d differnce is i can charge de fone but my usb is not getting recogonised

Hi mate yes I forgot to put I can also charge the phone but that's all it does

I have also tryed the software on another pc today and get the same problem i think its the phone at fault :(

Here are the some ways to try to get it to connect:

1. Battery pull.
2. No HUB connection, connect directly into the BB
3. Delete/Clean Reinstall of DM
4. Try connecting to AppLoader via the DOS Command Prompt
5. Try to connect using BBSAK (BB Swiss Army Knife)

i have also tryed a battery pull and a clean install of dm i am connected to the pc with the usb cable which is connected to the back of the pc but i have also tryed all the other ports i have also just downloaded and tryed BBSAK but it cant detect my phone

Trying to eliminate the possibilities and ascertain what you have done so far.

What were you doing just before this event happened? Did you drop the device? Did it get wet?

How old is the 8500? Is it still under warranty? You should consider returning it for a new device.

The phone is about 8 months old i installed desktop manager or tryed to 2 days ago as i wanted to update the phones o/s but couldnt get the phone to connect.
also the phone has not got wet and has been well looked after.
while the phone is connected to the pc i get a little black icon which disapears and comes back ect.. down by the clock on my desktop on the pc

hello there, i am also having the exact same problems but my phone is an 8110.
i have had to clear my phone twice in the last two years and got it going again, but this time it is not working. I have tried all the above suggestions also.
i even tried turning off the anti virus software but that did not work.
when i went to device manager, it wont allow me to chose a port even if its the usb, it's like it has something turned off on the PC to see any of the ports.....

Mass storage device must be turned off when using desktop manager.
