Did you update the firmware?

I haven't had my PB crash yet with the default or downloaded apps I have.

i've since updated to .1705 and it seems better now not crashing so much but it still does on occasion. I just want to make sure I didn't get a bad unit or anything. Is it crashing for anyone else?

the weird thing is I dont even get a memory error, it just closes my window!

I have not experienced any of that. After my initial upgrade, I really haven't experienced anything that would be considered a problem. I used to have an issue with trying to call up my keyboard before all flash content loaded. It sometimes causes the keyboard to disappear. I have had tweetless, video(Tron:Legacy), Bing Maps, CBC, and Camera open. I was on default, not showcase, and I did see a few skips in the camera as I scanned about.

I would bring the unit back and have it checked just to be sure. As with any mass produced device, you will have defects. Too bad about the problems though. Have you tried a wipe and starting over? With the little app selection available it wont cause too much headaches.

Cheers,

I returned the buggy PB and got another one but same issue. My browser always seems to crash and even without the BBB on. I would be on Tweedless clicking on tweet links while having a few browser windows already open and it would randomly crash and close the browser. Is this normal or did I get another buggy PB?

I don't think it's the PlayBook hardware. Perhaps evidence that the OS and some apps are still a work in progress. I've had the bridge BBM start to open only to crash and close. A PlayBook reboot fixes it. Also have had trouble with the bridge repeatedly disconnecting, and again a reboot fixes it.

I haven't had the browser crash on me, but maybe that depends on what the user is doing.
At any rate, I believe these problems will be worked out in future OS upgrades.

thanks for your input aiharkness...I'm on my 3rd PB and playing around with this new one within 10mins the browser has crashed. This is the same issue described above when I'm already in the browser with a few widows open and I go into Tweedless and click on some tweet links, it crashes!!

I hope it's not the hardware because I got all my PBs from Sears and it better not be a bad batch the sent. I only have 15 days to evaluate otherwise I'm stick with it so any input would be greatly appreciated...

Please tell me if your browser ever crashes

I haven't had the browser crash. I don't know what is a lot of tabs open, or a lot of apps open. I've had 4 to 6 tabs open in the wifi browser, bridge email, podcasts app, and maybe opening and closing calendar and tasks. As I say, the only time I've had something crash while opening is the bridge BBM, and a a restart fixes that.

In your case, is there any pattern as to what web sites you are using when the crashes occur, or something along those lines...that is, some correlation between something specific you are doing and when the browser crashes? That's my guess. Not that it should be happening in the first place, of course. But I still think it is software releated and just looking for clues.

I notice it mostly when I'm checking my hockey updates so I'd be on sportsnet.ca/hockey and tsn.cs/nhl...maybe playing some videos from the homepages, then I'd switch over to Tweedless and check some tweets and click on some tweet links and BAM crash...

It crashes other times too like when I'm using other apps and I minimize to go into my browser and it's GONE!

Personally, I would stop returning PlayBooks and see how the next one or two OS updates go. I know it is frustrating, but I don't think it is the hardware, and it isn't you in the sense that it doesn't sound like you are expecting anything out of the ordinary or forcing the browser to crash.

Hold out for another update, or two, and then make a decision.
