Default 8707 - flight mode?

Please Login to Remove!

Heya,
I just looked at some specs for the vodafone 8707 blackberry.
it says that is has flight mode...
I thought all blackberrys had 'flight mode' which was to just turn your wireless off.

However, when I looked at the specs of the new 7130 from vodafone, it said that it didnt have flight mode.

I am confused..

Also, it says the 8707 has 'release 99'. Anyone have any idea what that is?

Thank you for any replies

Wirelessly posted (7130e: BlackBerry7130e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

Never hear a BB that had flight.

Probably just means turning the wireless off is my guess.

Yup. All BBerries have "Flight mode."

Basically you just select "Turn Wireless Off" so you can use your BBerry while you're on an airplane.

(Same deal as being required to turn off your cell phone.)

i know someone at Vodafone here in the UK, and he sent me the spec sheets of the devices.
the 8707 says 'flight mode: yes'
the 7130 says 'flight mode: no'

Well..

The only difference I see is that the 8707 has a setting, button, whatever, that will automatically turn off wireless on your BB.

For all other BB's you don't have that setting/button and you have to turn off wireless yourself.

In my opinion, it's just a attempt at making the 8707 seem like it has an extra feature that the other models do not have.

The trouble about using any PDA with Send & End buttons is convincing the stewardess that the phone is actually switched off.

Now if my 8700v looked like an iPod...

EXACTLY. I can't convince them that it is a PDA and not a phone. I used to not have any issues in first class, but even there I get hassled sometimes now.
