If you have a Pearl, 0.6 isn't quite ready -- 0.7 should be better. See the mailing list and Patches section for things, there are some new udev rules, script fixes and whatnot. Starting with 0.7 there will also be official RPM packages released along with the code.

(you can also get the CVS code and build from that)

Please also dig into the thread aboud btool hanging; it appears there's a bug in the .61 and .64 (at least) firmwares on Pearl, and .71 upgrade fixes it:

It's really not that hard to make a package as long as the app runs through the normal compilation stuff (./configure, make, make install, make clean).

Barry does, the build is very clean -- it also supports 'make DESTDIR=/foo/bar install' during normal non-root builds, it's not hard to package at all. Just a note; --with-boost requires you give it the path, like --with-boost=/usr ; not supplying a base path breaks it. (or just don't compile with boost)

good to know. Let me know when 0.7 is out and I'll make a .deb for it or if I can find a fedora, red hat, mandrake, suse, etc. box, I can probably make an RPM for it as well.

I know it's not that hard, but if it comes in .deb....gdeby (however it's spelled) will install it right there.

It's to help prevent fly-by spammers and that type of stuff, it keeps stuff on the up and up around here. While a bit annoying to someone new, it keeps BBF flying clean.

Default 0.9 Stable Release

Cool. Barry is out of alpha and into stable release:

SourceForge.net: Barry version 0.9 released

Hot off the forge, released last Thursday, so maybe a bit wonky yet but hopefully not. I haven't tried a build yet on BSD but will try to take a closer look tomorrow and report.
