Default BB 7250 and NXZen headset. What am I doing wrong?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased a NXZen headset to use with my Blackberry 7250. This is my first bluetooth device and I can't figure out how to get the two to connect. I've gone into options/bluetooth and enabled bluetooth (the bluetooth icon appears on the home screen), charged and turned on the headset, searched for new devices with the BB but nothing shows up in the device list.

Am I doing some thing wrong? Is there a step I'm missing or does this device not work with my model of BB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you put the headset into pairing mode?

From the NXZen website...

"Headset Pairing

1. Turn the headset on.

2. Press and hold the PINCH button until you hear 4 beeps or see 4 flashes, then release the button. The blue light indicator is on when the headset is in pairing mode.

3. Activate your mobile phone's/device's Bluetooth feature.

4. Follow the phone's instructions for pairing. The phone displays a message

"nXZEN ", when the headset is detected.

5. Follow the phone's instructions to accept the pairing.

The PIN code or PASSKEY is 0000.

6. Pairing is successful when you hear your headset play a "pairing successful" melody and the light indicator turns off. The mobile phone may display a message "pairing successful" and a "nXZEN" headset icon."

Yup, saw that. I charged the headset, held the button, it flashed a couple times and played a tune. I then went into the options/bluetooth of my 7250. The paired devices list was empty so I wheel-clicked and selected "add a device". The BB searches for a device but comes up empty.

Have I missed something or am I packing the thing up and heading back to the store?

Thanks for the quick reply BTW

It's possible that your not holding down the button long enough, some headsets take a serioulsly long time to enter into pairing mode and the lights and tone your seeing may just mean that you've turned the headset on rather than activated the pairing mode.

Just a thought

Bingo! Blackberry forums to the rescue.

Thanks for the quick replies. Headset working fine now. Called my brother with it and although he says it has a distinct "digital" sound it is louder and clearer than the wired earbud I've been using.
