Does BB Maps use data when it is running? Also, if you buy a GPS puck (to be paired with a Sprint 7130e), does that require data to use?

Yes, it does. Actually, it uses quite a bit of data, so make sure you have the unlimited blackberry data plan if you plan on using it a lot.

Yes, all GPS applications on the BlackBerry require a blackberry data plan as they use a lot of data.

McPatrick, all in helpfulness to you, any application that requires interaction with a network or satellite or another user will require data. You have been advised in another thread that you need a BlackBerry Data Plan. Without such, you have a phone that can SMS, and you can sync your calendar, tasks, memos, and address book back your computer as well, and that is that. I don't think there is much else.

The puck itself doesn't use data as GPS satellites aren't on your wireless carrier's network nor the internet. However, getting the maps that make the positioning data actually useful do require data. If you can navigate with just longitude and latitude then you don't need a data plan.
