Default Junk Mail Fix if you dont have Spam Blocker

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I think I have a solution for my 2 year long problem. I have a blackberry on BIS and my company is small. We use a microsoft webmail type program and outlook with pop 3 in the office. We forward the emails directly from webmail to our .blackberry.net addresses. The problem is, the server has no spam blocker, and even if I forwarded from outlook their spam blocker is weak and id have to wait 15 mins to get emails, which I could never do.

THE FIX
I changed the "forward to" on the webmail from my @blackberry.net account to my .mac account (use gmail or any other webmail with spam blocker) then i forwarded the .mac emails to my blackberry.net account. It sounds complex but it takes about 30 seconds to do. The .mac account is able to filter the emails before they come to my handheld and no settings changes are needed on the device!

So far ive gotten no junk to my blackberry and the emails come in just as fast as they always have.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, just ask!

I have kinda been doing this for a while with Gmail. I have one email address that I use for filling out forms, etc that will never go to my BB.

The quickest way to get spam is to create Hotmail accound and either fill out a form or have someone add you to a fwd list.

Outside of that form email address, I have a few Gmail accounts that forward through each other and eventually are forwarded to my BB. Gmail has excellent spam proctection and I even have my .mac email forwarded through Gmail. Doing this over the past year I can see the spam starting to occur in the early-in-the-chain of Gmail accounts while the one closest to my BB never gets any spam.

Cheers.

Cool. I am not that high-tech and the only MS product I can bring myself to use is the 360.

I'm gonna try it right now, but could you guys post a step by step process for the next person that comes around that needs this. Heck....I might need it myself.

Example:
Create a Hotmail account and use if for all forms, BS, etc. Do not give it to friends and check it if you think you may be winning something.

Create say two (or however many you want) Gmail accounts. These accounts will be used to filter your email. Let's say that the first one is GmailA and the second one is GmailB.

Have GmailA forwarded to GmailB.
You can then either have GmailB added to your BB Web Client or just fwd GmailB to your BB Web Client (I would add it to the WC so you have the option to send from either).
Then...ONLY GIVE OUT GmailB to people you know will not add you to forwards lists, be "nice" enough to enter you into some contest or rebate, etc, etc. Those "friendly" people should get GmailA so that the eventual spam will be hopefully filtered by GmailA and GmailB before it gets to your BB.

Does this explain it well?
I have done this and since added a Yahoo account to my Web Client that I can use but know that it may have to come off if it starts getting spam that it does not filter.

Spam on a BB or phone is unacceptable if you ask me.
