Default Receiving network@etpXXXX.etp.na.blackberry.net emails...

Please Login to Remove!

...but I don't have a Blackberry.

We're running BES and have several Blackberry users, however I am not one of them. As of Friday of last week I keep receiving emails in my Exchange mailbox from blackberry.net such as this one:

-----------------------
This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.
-----------------------

Followed by ETP encoded data and with an ETP.DAT file attachment.

Could someone give me any ideas of how to track down why I'm receiving these?

did you install your Desktop Manager with a Desktop Redirector option? And that ETP.DAT file is for the wireless activation. Are you sure they didnt decide to put you on the BES?

Those emails get sent from a Blackberry when an Enterprise Activation is started with your email address. Your companies Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) administrator added your email address to the BES. Most likely it was an accident. One wrong mouse click. You should contact your company's BES administrator to let them know that you are getting those emails and they should remove you from the BES. I'll bet your BES admin would love to hear from you so they can correct the problem and get the correct person's blackberry activated on the BES. I have seen this happen before, where the wrong person is added to the BES. Then the correct person cannot activate their Blackberry. Or you can wait and the BES admin will figure it out eventually.

I am on a BES server through work however the email address that it is being send to is not going through our work server.

I have received 6 today alone.

Should I still contact the BES admin?

Thank for the help!

Wow, This is a great Thread to whom ever posted the Question.
Each day, I receive over 790 of these "etp@etp***.etp.ap.blackberry.net".
Drives me insane.

With a "This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server."

And No One at my telco provider seems to know what is going on !
Thank you, thank you on mighty forum of Wisdom !

But What do I do if : I am an individual BIS subcriber... and have no Compay Administrator to call ?
and if the Telco blackberry gu doesnt seem to know a blackberry from a strawberry ?

On the Assumption that I am NOT on the BES ( BB Enterprise Service) :

How Do I trace if I had accidentally installed the Desktop Manager WITH a Desktop Redirector option? And that ETP.DAT file is for the wireless activation ?

A) how to detect where this file is located ?
b) Is it safe to delete it ?
c) Or where should I place it ?

I recently had this problem because I switched to a used BB that must have used BES. I'm a BIS subscriber, too. These messages have something to do with being set up somewhere as BES, erroneously. Here are some things to check.
First, did you set up Desktop Manager using the Desktop Redirector option? You shouldn't. If you did, uninstall it and install it again as BIS.
Second, did you get this device from someone else, as I did? There might be extra service books on it that you don't need. Go to Options/Advanced/Service Book and delete any books for Desktop. I think I had two of them; maybe one was CMIME. In any event, delete them and you won't get that message anymore, I think.

This worked for me...I deleted the two desktop books, and the messages stopped. CMIME and CICAL.

Just sharing...

Yes, I'd resend the service books from the BIS web site of your carrier. If that fails, you can delete the account (if it's still in the list) and add it again. Maybe that will do it.

Go to Options->Advanced->Host Routing Table->Register Now. Wait a bit.
Then do a battery pull.

See if that restores your original service books.

Folks,

Your contributions here have been brilliant. Problem Solved
Summary :

1) Prep : Make Back Up on Desktop
2) On HandHeld : Under Advanced Options : Remove all CMIME and CICAL Files
3) ReLoad Entire Desktop Software for Blackberry
4) Perform Sync and Back Up
5) Go into TELCO Operator BIS Portal : RESEND SERVICE BOOKS
6) Problem solved.

Good one Guys
