Please Login to Remove!
This is really getting annoying. Happened a few more times to me, even with the IM client removed.
Once I just hit the green call button to bring up a list of past calls, it froze up then rebooted. Not even on a call. :(

Phone reboots for no reason
I have the same problem. I've had my phone for 3 months and it did it with 3.8 OS and it only did it 1 out of every 3 to 4 long calls. 20 mins+..
I upgraded to 4.0 and still have the problem. I do not use the BES. I have about 4 email accounts set up on it including the bb.net email. I do not use IM at all and it is still installed. I have the original battery but the sim came from my old Nokia 3650 I use to have.
BTW I found a program that unlocks the phones from their services.
It's called Code Calculator version 5.4
google it and DL it.. Worked for my Nokia 3650 TMO to switch over to Cingular. My friend put in his sim and it worked like a charm.. The program said you can only do this 5 time before the phone is trashed.
I am getting ready to call TMOBILE and give them an earfull... I don't want a referb.....

I have a 7100g for about 3-4 weeks... no issues at all. BES 3.x at work. About 2 dozen people are using the 7100t at work as well and I have not heard of issue regarding reboots.
In general TMO service is HORRIBLE, we are deploying 7230 and 7290 BBs to around 1,000 users and we are having nothing but major issue upon major issue. Two of our users were barely getting any service and TMO told them they would cancel their contracts and to send the units back! lol
From everything I have read in this thread this is not a RIM issue, but a TMO issue... which does not surprise me in the least.

I have the 7100 v and the 7100R and i have V 4.0.0168 installed, on the 7100v and i have no problems, but i installed the latest version v4.0.0.219 on the 7100r and it rebooted every hour, or when i had a call longer then 30 min, i'm not sure why but i put the v 4.0.0.168 on the 7100 R and i now have no problems with rebooting, it may reboot once and awhile but not every day, and i am able to talk hours on it without any problems

New 7100t...same old problem
T-Mobile sent me a new 7100t in hopes that the reboot problem was due to a defect in my old 7100t. Um....no. The new 7100t performed admirably for the first three days and then WHAMMO...a perfectly timed reboot while I was leaving a vmail for a customer. Many more reboots since.

Try moving back to 3.8. I have not had this problem since doing that.
Is there anyone out there that has reboots under 3.8?

I'm serious... what can compete at this price level?

Use two devices. a phone and PDA. It works better. I heard that Treo 650 is good buy. You can get Treo 600 unlocked for $300 it will work better than blackberry. Or buy some good Nokia/ Motorola or Sony phone. They are very stable. I used HP iPAQ for a long time. iPAQ has far superior user interface. All features are well documented. (Not like blackberry which has tons of hidden features) It is very stable as well.

The whole reason most of us are using a BB is so we DON'T have to use two devices. I was carrying around an iPAQ and a phone, and there is no need to do so. We just need RIM to step up to the plate and fix this problem. For heavens sake, it can't be that difficult.

Well, I just downgraded to 3.8, which I hope will help. There have been people who complain of still receiving the reboots w/ 3.8, though they seem to be a smaller population.
Has anyone had success with a new handheld? Since Tmob keeps suggesting it, has it actually worked for anyone?

You will get a refurbished 7100T not a new one. I am on my 3rd. The newest referb is working ok so far... Knock on wood!
Downgrading to 3.8 helped me with phone quality issues....

Just happened again! I've noticed that it almost always happens when an email comes in. Is there anyway I can set my preferences to not have email delivered during a call?

I'm not sure how things work where you are, but in the NorthEast Region of the good ol US of A, GPRS Sessions are halted during phone calls. I am not able to receive emails during phone calls, as well as all my co-workers. Once the call ends, all the emails come in.
SMS still comes thru during phone calls, however.

Same here. My emails will only come in after the call, while SMS messages will come in any time. But, I do have one user complain that it will freeze while downloading emails during calls. I haven't checked into it yet.
Coincidentally, he's the only user I have on 3.8 who complains of the rebooting problem.

My 7100t did this every day or two since I got it. I'm in LA, but I frequently travel to Phoenix and it happens there too. Sometimes it would reboot, other times it would lose the connection and nothing could bring it back other than removing and replacing the battery. After several calls to T-Mo support, they finally agreed to send me a refirb. I've been using it for three days (4.0.0.198 ) without incident. IM is installed, but I'm removing it just to be safe.
You better believe I'll post again if this rotten nasty annoying #%$%&* of a bug rears its head again.

piece of ...
I read thread after i got my 7100t. I was scared that this might happen, and sure enough, 14 days after I got in, whamo.
I erased the IM Client, as that was thought to be the issue. I am on 4.0.0.198 and it is crap.
It is unacceptable for a phone not to work as a phone.

That appears to be an IM that was still on the phone.
