Thumbs down Call ID - Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have the Blackberry 9000 (ATT) and I'm having issues with the caller ID not showing up. Anyone had this and know how to fix it WITHOUT resetting the whole device. The thought of redoing it makes me want to cry....

lol

Do you have anything coming up? Phone number? What happens when someone calls? You don't get true caller ID with name matching unless you have an address book entry for the incoming number. Not sure if you're aware of that.

Yes, I know they have to be in my contact list. What I get is just the phone number. It doesn't pick up the name in my contact list at all. It seems to happen if the device is locked and has been sitting for a bit. Sometimes it works just fine and others it doesn't. It's sooooo annoying -- lol

Oh and once I hang up or ignore -- if I go look in the list -- It picks up the id. but let's say I had called that number an hour before - it shows up as a separate line item (not all together in one history list) I have to view the contact -- edit it and save it and then it merges all the items back together.

I have read of some issues with the 9000 and caller ID. Some have said it takes several rings for the caller ID to associate with an address book entry. I'm not sure what the recommended fix is/was. Someone else should chime in.

Options -> Security Options -> General Settings, Is Content Protection Enabled? If so it has the Option to include the Address Book, make sure that is set to "No" if you set it Yes it will not read your address book while your phone locked.

Thanks!!!!

CO_BBTechie -- no your reply got me pointed in the right direction -- I searched the boards and saw someone mentioned the encryption feature -- I knew where that was and changed it -- so your answer did my problem fixed -- but alas SteveO86 -- he hit the ball out of the park -- as he gave steps on how to change it. :D

It's all good. I'm again a HAPPY crackberry user!!!

OH -- and if any of you like trivia -- download the new Trivial Pursuit game -- LOVE IT!!! I just wish they'd make the roller ball more cushy as my thumb hurts!!!
