Default Ringtone Length

Please Login to Remove!

I have a custom ringtone that I have put together, it is about 3.3 MB long and is stored on my MicroSD card. I have set it to the contact that I want it to play for, but for some reason it only plays for 10 sec. pauses and then loops again. I am confused as to why it doesnt play the whole tone. I have pulled the battery, tried deleting it and reseting it and still nothing. Is this all it is, a 10 sec slot to play or am I doing something wrong? All in all the tone is 29 seconds long so it should play the whole thing, right? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Nick

cghe25i, set your number of beeps to 1, and it won't loop, and it should play the whole thing -- IF you have your "ring to voice mail" set to 30 seconds. You can't go longer.

I did attempt to extend the ring time, by caling and entering my voicemail number, I dont know if it worked so I am goign to call my server next. However, the Phone option under the profile doesnt have a "number of beeps" only "number of vibrations." "number of beeps" is under the messages options. I am so confused because any of the tunes that are already loaded on the phone dont loop, they just play until I pick up or it goes to voicemail, very frustrating. Thanks for the replys and helping, hopefully something comes of this soon.

OK, well, it works on mine as I described. I just tested and listened 28 seconds of my mp3 as a ringtone, calling my phone.

Would using Audacity as my editor change anything? I am not currently using that but maybe i should switch. I couldnt find the number of beeps option under phone in the profiles but im gonna look again and if not I am just going to go into a cingular. Thanks for the help JSANDERS I do appreciate it.

I have used audacity to cut the file length and reduce the file size.

Try setting the number of Vibrations to 1.
Good luck.

i'm having the same problem on my phone. It plays for maybe 5 or 10 secs. I only have it set on 1 beep so it plays for maybe 5 to 10 secs and then nothing happens. I thought the caller hung up or i didn't bother to answer. Until i turned on the display for when calls come through, all i see is that they're calling after the ringtone stops playing.

I think this might have something to do with the bitrate.

My theory: the phone reads some number of bytes and whatever part of the ringtone fits in that buffer is played. Try reducing the bitrate and see if that helps.

I ran in to that problem when I tried to use a ringtone that was 28 seconds long. It would only play for about 15 seconds. I changed the file size from 1.07MB to 498K by lowering the bitrate of the file and it worked. It looks like you will have to keep your files below the 500K mark.
