Thumbs up Full OTA Sync Email Service

Please Login to Remove!

Dear BB Fans,

It's been a couple of months of development and testing, but the alpha version for full OTA sync is now here and available on our email system over at - ThinkPost Communications. ThinkPost Communications - Home

If anybody is interested, please sign up. Any questions? Pls post here!

Essentially, for $2 a month, you get a renowned email system + full OTA sync of Calendar / Notes / Tasks with not only our Webmail, but with MS Outlook as well. (There is a program to sync with Outlook, and one with BB)

If you are interested, pls. reply here or send us a quick email (support@thinkpost.net)

I think the pricing is attractive enough to have a few non hardcore BES users convert. The pricing is also month to month, so I don't think I can go wrong there!

Thanks,
Vincent L.

So it works like redirector, only it does everything?

Hello there,

The idea is to use BIS + our program. No need to keep your computer running! Just like BES is what i'm getting at =)

Is it push sync? Or do I have to tell it to sync?

how secure is it? does it stage on your servers before sending to Outlook/BB? And is there another application that you need to install on the desktop side that is always running?

Good evening,

I'm glad to see the questions start flying. Basically, it works like this:

You run a program on your Blackberry. You can force it to sync, or set it to auto-sync. All updates are reflected on our webmail immediately. I, for one, set it to auto sync.

To sync with Outlook, you simply install a program on Outlook. Same as above, force or auto sync is possible.

The program is sourced from Funambol Mobile 2.0 Messaging Powered by Open Source We configure it to work on our servers and do the purchase of the software up front. That way, we use a time-tested application that has been wildly successful and implement it with our servers.

I hope this helps!

Is just the SyncML (it's syncml, yes?) device software you've developed available by itself?

Hello,

The program is based on Sync ML.

No, it cannot be stand alone. It requires synchronization with the server - just to be clear though, the software was not developed by us, but by funambol.

I doubt one could ever find a piece of working software that is available by itself. (other than maybe an extended version of redirector).

The reason is that the data has to go somewhere - either to a server (i e ours) or to your computer. Something has to be running 24X7. Hope this helps.

Completely understood - I am a user of Nexthaus SyncJe and am completely conversant in SyncML and what it takes. Is the Funambol developed client unique to your service and somehow developed in a non open source manner? This is more the question - Funambol is a traditionally open source company who sells consulting services, I'm inquiring as to the client itself and if we can obtain it to use under the traditional open source methods - your client is based on their open source codebase, yes?

Hello there,

The software was custom developed for our servers - i'm sure you can purchase and install, but the software is quite expensive. It would make sense to get a BES server, as i'm sure it would be cheaper for your # of users. The pricing is available on the website.

Thanks,
Vincent

I am very interested in this service. Me and my girl have been wanting a wireless solution. So let me get this straight. I would download your software and use your servers to that our contacts and emails and tasked are stored and sinked on a Webmail type interface?

The sign up was easy. I am working with customer service to solve a PIM javx exception. Customer service is very prompt.

Dear Mr Elliott

Apologies for the issue again - I have passed this onto the techs and they are investigating - will let you know ASAP when I hear something.

Thanks for the compliments thus far.

Dear Mr Scheuer,

Thank you for the compliments. Apparently the text page that was put up to clarify things has had problems all day - we are looking into redesigning the page completely. Apologies again for the confusion!

I had google sync installed on my 8320 and thought maybe that was the issue. So i deleted it and i still got the same javx exception.
