Didn't Cingular or RIM's website have one of those infamous "Enter your email to be notified when it comes out" things? I love those... I have the device in my hand long before I get an email telling me it's out...lol

I'm a photographer, I shoot ad campaigns all the time... trust me, they don't shoot a large national campaign the week before it comes out. I'm not saying its not coming out next week... I'm saying they aren't shooting it this week for a release next week. If the campaign is launched next week it was shot at least a month ago.

The time it takes for the agency and the client to make selects drags on and on... and then there is post production on the images... then finalizing the ad layout, then pre-press proofs, printing, etc, etc, etc. Definitely not something that can be done in a week.

you are correct. the 8800 campaign was shot about 4-5 months ago: same thing. as mentioned before, they had devices which aren;t even in the rumor mill except maybe for the '8300' i didn't say they were shooting the 8800 campaign, i said i heard from somebody who is a creative freelancer HIRED on the current campaign who spoke to one of the senior account execs and was old in confidence that the 8800 drops this week or next week.

If I should be wrong, please send copious amounts of hatemail.

About how long do you think the lead time is to buy national advertising? I suspect more than a week. Also there would be leaked photos of the t-mo 8800 as the product tricked into distribution warehouses.

Actually, you DID say he was shooting the 8800 campaign. You said :

I have just heard from a person intimately involved in the 8800 print campaign which is currently being photographed in New York by celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston (today and the rest of the week)

so, "8800 print campaign which is currently being photographed" means they are shooting the 8800 campaig now...correct?

there goes the credibility....

Pretty funny when someone says they didn't say something when we can all go a few inches up and see they did in fact say EXACTLY what they are now saying they didn't say.

I mean, at least go in and edit your previous post to support your new delusion.

I also like the posts that proclaim (usually in all capital letters) that Billy-Jo-Bob-My-Local-Rep sez that this here model is coming out next week.

all of you are correct. typo. the campaign currently being photographed in NYC is for future models NOT for the 8800.

fact is: the 8800 will come out this or next week. take it to the bank.

(oh i can just see the *****y posts coming my way now

Why are you all arguing with ruechel? Either he's right or wrong. Noone really knows untill it's OFFICIALLY released, so just give it a rest and get the HATE mail bombs ready.
Cool.

let's keep it light. if you don't get the humor in my posts it's maybe because you don't find me funny but maybe (only maybe) it's because you're a little bit too tightly wound.

an overwhelmingly large number of people posting here state things that can't be verified and often prove to be untrue. it's "best guess" and unless you are the CEO of RIM that's what it'll be. we're all here because we're excited about our gadget(s) not because we're testifying in front of the McCarthy commission.

when did this stuff become so serious? anyone research the cure for cancer or save the planet otherwise?

i am sure you'll have something smart to say about that too. i expect an apology from you when the 8800 is launched this or next week. if not, i will surely prostrate myself in front of you, oh great 'moderator'

No need for that.
Just remember that if it is a rumor, paste it in the rumors section...

You came on here all hot and heavy, and you get slammed a bit, but several people, for posting an unsubstantiated rumor.

Is it important? No! But you came onto a site dedicated to BlackBerrys, hurled a rumor-bomb, insulted anyone who questioned you, and then have to back off.

I put my pants on just like you. I can assure you I don't sweep the floors - not even in my own house, and you are the one who got nasty first because you were questioned...
