Assuming you meant "hasn't" been wet...

But it doesn't have to be wet. Just leave on the counter in bathroom during a hot steamy shower or bath will cause symptoms such as you describe. It doesn't have to be dunked a glass or dripped on.

So how do I get rid of the H2O virus? I hope one of you will suggest the Nexus One will remove the virus and you will be brave enough to explain why to the wifey.

My foggy memory is reminding me of having kept the phone in an inside dry pocket of my camo jacket during a hunting trip in cold rainy weather about 2 weeks ago.

OK, I disassembled the phone. Dried it out over the weekend. Placed the parts among silica gel pouches around it, ran a hair drier on low heat from a distance over it for about an hour.

Reassembled it last night. Still same problems.

What are my options now? Am I stuck with a faulty BB?

Not many options left. If it was moisture, the damage was more than likely done minutes or hours after getting wet.

You could attempt an OS reload, but based what's occuring on your phone, this might not prove very useful.

You could take/send it to a repair center to take a look.

I've never heard of anything like this. If it were mine I'd wipe it an reload an OS. That's aabout all that's left to do. If that's no good I recommend trying to fix it with a Nexus 1 or a Moto Droid (share this with wifey).
