Exclamation 7520 Bluetooth Quality

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, I have been checking this forum for a while now and I noticed that either no one has faced my problem or hasn't posted it. So if you have a 7520 and have this problem, please stand up!

Ok, I got my Berry in Jan and paired with a Motorola HS820 and it worked beautifully. After giving it some time I began to hear, "you sound really far away..." from individuals I speak to regularly. After swapping out 3 earpieces I finally came to the conlusion that a few too many drops might have killed my BT Radio. Nextel overnighted another 7520 and I am still encountering the same problem.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems, and if not, what BT piece are you using?

PS: I have yet to meet a PDA/SmartPhone to go through what my BBerry went through. Treos break if tossed on the bed and don't hit the pillow.

I recently (3 weeks ago, more or less) began using a Cardo Scala 500 headset. I rarely get complaints of voice quality from my callers; they complain that they can't hear me at times and I find I can't hear them well if I don't have a sufficiently high volume level set when I answer a call.

The incoming volume is usually "just right;" however, if it is too low and I increase it by one click, it is either too loud or very distorted.

I consider these minor inconveniences as long as I can re-call someone at a better time or place (or roll up the windows, turn down the music, etc.).

There may come a time when our phones can be embedded in our skulls and we won't have these little problems. Or, better still, we'll learn to use the now-unused portion of our brain which will allow us to communicate via telepathy with anyone, anywhere. Until then, I like my Cardo Scala and I'll stick with it 'til something better comes along.

I have an HS820 also but I use it with a 7250 from Verizon and do not have any sound problems at all, even while driving with the window down. So I guess it is not a matter of the HS820 as much as either the phones condition and/or the headset itself. My headset when not on me goes in a shirt or coat pocket where I know it will not get banged around. When I am home, and have the BB connected to the PC I place the headset inside the ballistic cordura holster that I use for the BB, so it is always protected and safe. Most people do not realize how fragile these things are and wind up banging them up or abusing them without realizing it. After all it is a miniature Radio is it not? Would you normally treat your radio as you treat your headset?

Do you have the 4.02 software on your 7520? I havn't tried Bluetooth on mine, but have seen others say that it does improve it, at least some.

My 7520 isn't even recognizing the Motorola HS820 that I bought! I called Nextel Support and they told me that the 7520 doesn't support the HS820 and if I did use the HS820 that it would void the warranty!

Were they wrong? Obviously some of you have it working! Please let me know what I am doing wrong, if anything! I have the HS820 powered on while fully charged, go to Options, Bluetooth, enabled Bluetooth, and when I go to Search for devices, even when I have them next to each other, my BB says "No Devices Found. Would you like to Search Again?"

If some of you DID get it working, please tell me what I haev to do! Thanks!

You have to put the headset on discover mode, you do that by holding the button down for about 5 seconds until the blue lights starts blinking release it and then go to discover, it will ask you for a password, use 0000. Once it is discovered go to the device and then go to options and say yes to trusted device so it does not ask you if you want to use it every time you turn it on.

You my friend... are my favorite person in the world right now! ;)

Note to Self: Nextel Blackberry Support is only right if KonTiki says so!!!

I take it you got it to work, just goes to show you the answers do not lie with tech support.

Wirelessly posted (7520: Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) BlackBerry7520/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

I have tried several headsets and have narrowed it down to. 2 brands which perform well. The jabra and Plantronics brands seem to perform excellent. Personally I was not impressed with the Motorola or cheap Tiawan brands. I don't believe anyone should expect good call quality while driving with the windows down as the background noise alone is enough to destroy call quality and noise reduction technology is not designed with that in mind. Imagine if you breath heavy into the mike, people will here it and the same can be said for wind noise passing the microphone, it will be heard. Currently I am using a Plantronics 2500 and love the quality and volume from my inexpensive headset.

I have the 7520 as well and when I use the bluetooth in my 2005 Jeep Grand the folks I call have a hard time hearing me. Sounds like a glitch in the bluetooth, either software or hardware, in the 7520 side. Wish someone would fix it!
