Please Login to Remove!
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this is for Domino BES users. If you upgraded to BES 4.0.6, you will need to do some further updates.

This is what I was told by rim.
The patch has been pulled due to one of the services using much cpu resources than expected. RIM recommends if you havent already installed to NOT install it. They will be rereleasing the tweaked HF3 later today or tomorrow.
This is an important HF since it fixes these 3 biggies from SP6.
*SDR 120267 In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0. SP6, if message redirection to the BlackBerry device was turned on, when a user
created an email message in IBM Lotus Notes® and then saved the email message as a draft before sending it, the message did
not synchronize with the BlackBerry device.
In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 SP6 HF3 and later, this issue is resolved.
*SDR 119005 In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 SP6, if the BlackBerry Enterprise Server was restarted, previously queued messages
were not delivered to BlackBerry devices.
In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 SP6 HF3 and later, this issue is resolved.
*SDR 118860 In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 SP6, if a large number of documents were found in a userxxx8217;s mail file, the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server would take a long time to process the documents.
In BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 SP6 HF3 and later, this issue is resolved.

I just got approval from our Change Control committee to apply HF3 to three servers and now it is pulled. Yay!
bkmrk7: Are you seeing the processor issue? I may just go ahead and install it anyway since the big issue for us is the loss of queued messages on restart.

Hot Fix 4 should be on the web page tomorrow morning according to my RIM contact.
I believe there is something bigger to HF 3 because RIM would not pull a HF from download if it was something as simple as they tried to market it as.

No issues to date. Haven't spent a lot of time tracking the processor, but it is running the same as it was pre-SP / HF application. Have been quite happy with the performance. All is good so far.
The install went smooth. Came back up and started pushing mail to the devices in 12 minutes after the domino service started which is a very fast start up, usually 20-30 minutes.

If we have all other components updated, i.e. SQL table, device code, Domino, etc., do we still need to install 4.0.6 HF4 for DST to be fixed? I am on hold asking RIM but maybe one of you knows.

4.0.6 HF3 (4.0.6.21) fixes problems where meetings created on the BlackBerry show up properly in the Notes client view but improperly once the document is opened.
4.0.6 HF4 (4.0.6.22) fixes an extremely rare issue where the mail servers' CPU can be tapped out to 100% if several hundred documents need to wireless synchronize with the handheld for several hundred users.
There is a registry hack that can be employed as a workaround for those of you with ardious change management processes when applying software to your BES. We're recommending that customers move aggressively to HF4 but I don't think it's a risk if you have to wait 4-5 days.

This is why HF3 was pulled. This would have been a very bad thing in our environment.
SDR 121106 After you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0.6 Hotfix 3, the processor usage of the mail server that hosts the users’ mail files increases when the BlackBerry Enterprise Server processes messages.

OK, I don't get it. Somebody help me out here. Here is the issue workaround on HF3:
In the Registry Editor, change the MaxMessagesPerWRP DWORD value to 500. This may help decrease the load on the IBM Lotus Domino messaging server by reducing the frequency of the folder level message slicing.
But, I have now installed HF4, and here is what I see in my log file:
02/26/2007 11:04:20 AM MaxMessagesPerWRP = 0, MaxItemsPerWRP = 100
So now that MaxMessagesPerWRP is set to 0, I assume that means unlimited, will that cause any issues? Will the MaxItemsPerWRP=100 cause any issues?
I wanted the DST fix but am wary of these other deep architectural changes running on my large systems.

The release notes said to remove the registry key before applying the patch. I am assuming the hotfix fixed the problem causing the excess CPU usage and reset that key to 0.
