SMS as if it's BB Messenger? No way!
Please Login to Remove!
Ok, after getting my BB fixed after the fkup.
Now I see that SMS Text messages are displayed as if it is BB Messenger. How do I get it to display as if it is email, or messages, or list of messages? Not like AIM/BBIM style or whatever. I don't like the idea of it in BB messenger style.
Thanks for your help.

Actually, it's a bug.
I had email settings access problem, so I had to call Sprint to have them activate my email. Then at the same time, I asked them about the text displaying as if it's chat, they said it's a bug and they are working on it.
I find it interesting they're telling me it's a bug and working on it. If it's a bug, how can you miss it?

It is definitely NOT a bug, and there is nothing Sprint would be working on to correct the problem. That's just how your SMS will be unless you downgrade your phone to something earlier than 5.0

Threaded SMS.
Some people love it, some people hate it.
Honestly, I never understood the craze over threaded SMS (darn treo users).
I don't mind it...But honestly I like keeping texts in order of when they were received, not by conversation though I will admit that's useful sometimes when trying to find something.
What I hate about this 5.0 update is all my BBM contacts are linked to my address book. I hate how txt convos with someone that's also a BBM contact, the SMS chat shows up in BBM and if I close the convo, it deletes the whole SMS chat history!!!!
Of course the way around this is to remove the link to contacts.
But still, I HATE, HATE that option.

I read somewhere there is an option to break contact connection or something. I have 5.0 but it does not seem to affect my phone, not sure if its because I am with telus. the sms looks different when using it but works the same way, coming or going.

The only thing I don't like is not being able to see everyone to whom an SMS was sent. I just see that it was addressed to me. Maybe there's a setting that shows header detail and I"m just missing it.

Lesson #1: Take what John Q. Rep from PhoneCo tells you with several grains of salt.

Reps will tell you anything take it very lightly. Also it is NOT a bug, its a feature.

The one problem I have with it is if you delete the SMS message, it deletes the entire thread! Yesterday I mistakenly deleted a VERY long sms thread that has some info in it I really needed...and there isn't any recovery for it. I am in the habit to delete the non essential texts, which doesn't work well with the new threaded SMS.
The other issue is that I end up treating it like BBM (because it looks and feels like BBM) and many times hit the enter key after each line or a few short characters. This ends up sending many more texts than I normally would if they were un-threaded. Maybe this is is a secret revenue generating "feature" for the carriers!
Other than these two things, I like it!

I don't like the disintegration of the messaging.
My SMS messages are showing up under the BBM app icon, i get message alerts that tell me they're BBM messages but are actually SMS.
I can't open texts in BBM and i can't find them in the messages app.
The whole thing is problematic and uncoordinated. I used to be able to find all my incoming messages in one place, now it's divided between "messages" and BBM.
I'm also now noticing that in closing a threaded SMS, you essentially delete the entire message.
This is not cool.
my 30-day trial period has just ended but i'm going to go in and see what they can do for me.
If i knew this was going to be the case, i wouldn't have bought the phone.

I agree... there should be a way to close a chat without deleting the messages.

I made the same mistake today... sent 20+ messages as SMS when I thought I was BBMessaging.
Also, SMS-threaded messaging only appears to work for my contacts who are also BB users. If a user is a non-BB user then they don't appear in messenger and I need to SMS them through the SMS tool. I wish they would apply consistency: either all SMS through messenger (or ideally the option for none!).
